Description:

Unite Us is seeking a Corporate Counsel who is interested in working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment to help our growing legal team manage employment and litigation issues. The Corporate Counsel will report to the Vice President, Regulatory Counsel and support the people team on a broad range of employment issues including: recruiting; hiring; employee relations; discipline and terminations; internal investigations; leaves of absence; wage and hour compliance; EEO compliance; restrictive covenants; and contingent worker issues. Additional responsibilities include facilitating employment law training and managing outside counsel on employment litigation matters.

What You'll Do:

  • Advise the HR and business teams on a wide range of employment related issues, including state specific legal requirements across the country
  • Drafting and implementing employment policies and standard documentation in close collaboration with the People team and stakeholders across the company
  • Proactive planning, advising and implementing legal and compliance programs and improvements to support and protect the business
  • Manage and resolve employment disputes, including litigation
  • Manage outside counsel
  • Support employment law training

What's Required:

  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations (including ADA, ADEA, FMLA, CFRA, FLSA, etc.)
  • Experience leading and completing sophisticated projects
  • Experience managing litigation
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the organization's legal department and across all departments
  • Ability to work independently
  • Willingness to learn about our technology and the healthcare sector
  • Enthusiasm and a collaborative approach

Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate and law degree
  • Admission to a recognized bar
  • 2+ years of experience gained in a large law firm and/or in-house
  • Healthcare or technology sector and in-house experience is preferred (but not required)

Environmental Job Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • This position is remote, US-based, excluding Colorado
  • This position requires 5% travel
