About the role:

As the Director of Test and Reliability Engineering (TRE) for the Enterprise Data team, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing our software automation platform for CICD and DevOps culture as we modernize and transform our data and reporting capabilities. The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with business stakeholders and the engineering teams to implement, maintain, and enhance the Red Cross data platforms. The TRE Director will be involved in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle, Change Management, Tool Validation, Documentation, Production Incident Analysis. The individual will develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the major applications.

The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work remotely and can be located anywhere in the United States but must work east coast hours to work with offshore teams.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide strategic direction and planning for DevTools product objectives. Work closely with product teams and stakeholders to enable a low barrier to entry set of tools and processes to develop a culture of continuous testing.
  • Monitor the development, maintenance, and upgrading of automated tests, test cases, and monitoring alerts to ensure compliance with system specifications and regulatory guidance where applicable. Including metrics for adoption, impact, and defect rates.
  • Ensure that products, applications, and systems are following internal policy and industry standard best practices. Including but not limited to maintainability, observability, testability, and stability.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Data leaders and key stakeholders in the development and implementation of policies, standards, and the framework for the overall SDLC for Enterprise Data.
  • Manage team members and provide mentoring, guidance, training, goal setting, and evaluate work performance.
  • Provides status reporting of testing KPIs in projects he/she is involved in.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Serve as an organizational expert on DevOps best practices, techniques, and methods. Research, analyze, and apply emerging trends to products and teams. Contribute strategic expertise to IT and organizational initiatives.
  • External contact is required in development and execution of test plans and cases involving outside vendors and 3rd party consultants.
  • Participate in, or lead, root cause analysis with cross functional teams

What we need from you:

  • 4-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience with automated test adoption and code driven frameworks
  • 5+ years of Management Experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SDLC and DevOps
  • Strong understanding and hands on experience with DevOps, QA, and ITIL processes and methodologies
  • Experience leading a team of test and automation engineers
  • Experience with ensuring quality and reliability around data warehouse, data management, and BI reporting solutions
  • Knowledge and hands on experience using testing tools for requirement traceability, test cases, test execution and defect management
  • Experience with Jira and Zephyr a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Team player and can work with minimal supervision
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies

Note that the American Red Cross sets salary ranges aligned to a specific geographic location in which the job or employee resides.
