An Accountant prepares accounting information to assist in producing financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles in accordance with the mission, core values and purposes of the University.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Communicate with vendors and other third-party affiliates to reconcile and coordinate with student accounts.
  • Prepares and enters general ledger entries.
  • Balances and reconciles accounts to the general ledger.
  • Analyzes account activity, reconciles accounts and makes adjusting entries.
  • Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts and multi-entity ledgers.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Multi-State sales and use tax knowledge.
  • Provides technical advice and service to staff regarding complex accounting matters.
  • Prepares and assists in preparation of financial and administrative reports for planning purposes.
  • Assist with audit preparation.
  • Assist with the implementation, documentation, and training of new process, procedures and applications.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date accounting documents and records.
  • Back up to other accounting staff positions.
  • Assist with any special projects or reports as needed for Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor,
  • Controller or CFO.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

WHAT IS PREFERRED:

  • Strong understanding of accounting theory, practices and procedures.
  • Highly detail oriented and organized.
  • Strong work ethic and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal direction from manager.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related experience, or an advanced degree without experience.
  • 2 years knowledge of general accounting principles, payroll processes, and accounting systems.
