ABOUT THE ROLE

As the ACCOUNTING MANAGER, you will be an outstanding leader and manager, able to strike the right balance of accounting integrity with business practicality. You will lead and direct a dynamic general ledger team capable of being a key contributor to a rapidly growing and changing business environment. You will partner with teams such as IT, Engineering, Operations, and FP&A in managing the general ledger areas for cash, investments, fixed assets, payroll, leases, and consolidation. You will also support strategic initiatives as we continue to evolve our business here at Stitch Fix. You will have the chance to serve as a key contributor to a rapidly growing and changing business environment and strengthen your understanding of both operational and technical accounting processes.

YOU'RE EXCITED ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY BECAUSE YOU WILL…

  • Manage all aspects of general ledger accounting, including month-end and quarter-end close, quarterly reviews, and year-end close procedures for key balances sheet and income statement accounts. This includes, but not limited to, leases, capitalized software, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, and payroll accounting.
  • Manage, mentor, and inspire a general ledger team of 2+ members.
  • Lead process optimization projects that drive operational efficiencies to save hours & improve accuracy of internal reporting. This includes an emphasis on automating existing manual processes through the use of Alteryx, Parabola, and other tools.
  • Partner with our SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting group to help understand and implement new GAAP and reporting requirements.
  • Support the preparation of SEC Footnotes and disclosures through the detailed review & preparation of supporting schedules.
  • Own the continual development and execution of control structures for GL accounting in accordance with SOX 404 requirements; serve as a thought partner for Operations, IT, and other teams on their control structures. Assist in testing SOX controls as part of Management’s testing program in areas other than your own.
  • Develop and prepare internal management reporting documents to support company decision making and analysis.
  • Own our quarterly and year end audit requests with our external auditors.
  • Support ad-hoc projects as appropriate.

WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT YOU BECAUSE…

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or relevant field), a CPA, including 8+ years of general ledger experience at a large public retail, e-commerce, tech company, or a large accounting firm.
  • You have experience in managing the entire close process end to end, including external audits.  
  • You have 2+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Possess strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and develop others, and motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
  • You have an analytical mind and are always thinking of ways to streamline and improve processes or problems.
  • You have excellent technical accounting skills with detailed understanding of current GAAP standards and experience in exercising judgment and developing accounting positions.
  • You have deep experience working with accounting & financial reporting systems, ERP systems, and SOX compliance. You are proficient in Oracle (or similar sized ERP), Excel, and Powerpoint. Alteryx and Parabola experience is highly preferred.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Our anticipated compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets, and the range below indicates the low end of the lowest-compensated market to the high end of the highest-compensated market. This position is eligible for new hire and ongoing grants of restricted stock units depending on employee and company performance. In addition, the position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, and other benefits. Applicants should apply via our internal or external careers site.

Salary Range

$156,000—$167,000 USD
