Accounting Manager, Medium Business

Pelago enables employers and health plans to deliver accessible, affordable, and effective treatment for substance misuse.
Responsibilities:
- Comply with corporate reporting requirements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual performance reports, as well as any external reporting obligations.
- Ensure the accuracy and oversight of all inter-company transactions.
- Conduct monthly transactions and reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
- Investigate discrepancies between general ledger balances and subsidiary ledgers or other supporting documentation.
- Prepare necessary journal entries to rectify errors or discrepancies.
- Directly oversee the monthly closing process within specified timelines, ensuring the precision of financial statements that meet the company's needs.
- Propose improvements or additional reports to enhance their value for management.
- Manage financial and operational aspects of general accounting, inventory, cash, fixed assets, payroll, and related functions.
- Develop procedures and systems to optimize efficiency and reduce paperwork costs within the Finance department.
- Oversee both external and internal audits, actively participating in the preparation of required schedules and summaries for auditors, while coordinating data collection from other company locations.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll and associated activities.
- Stay informed and compliant with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company financial policies.
- Undertake other assigned duties and projects as needed.
The background we're looking for:
- In-depth knowledge of general accounting policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, Quickbooks, and advanced expertise in MS Excel.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong decision-making abilities, coupled with flexibility and adaptability to meet objectives.
- Capability to identify problems, gather relevant data, conduct advanced data analysis, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
