About the Role

e.l.f. Cosmetics is currently looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and collaborative Accounting Manager to join our dynamic, high-growth beauty company. This position is an exciting new role and will report directly to the Director of Accounting, OpEx & AP.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for liaising with multiple internal business partners to ensure accuracy of operating expenses and accruals. As one of the leaders on the Accounting team, you will need to apply your experience and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. This highly visible position will interface frequently with accounting and finance leadership, other departments within e.l.f., and with external auditors and service providers.

The ideal candidate is preferably a CPA and brings 5-7 years of Accounting experience, including supervision or management of accounting teams. Time spent in public accounting is also preferred. We also want to make sure you have advanced Excel skills and have demonstrated the ability to maintain focus and strong organization, especially in a fast­ paced, high-growth environment. Additionally, the best candidate will be a proven team player who is able to work with all levels throughout the organization and externally and be a strong verbal and written communicator. This position can be based in any of our e.l.f. offices (Oakland, L.A. or NYC) or be fully remote.

Detailed Responsibilities and Requirements

Responsibilities

Corporate Accounting

-Liasion with multiple internal business partners and budget owners to manage the accounting for department-specific operating expenses.

-Prepare and/or review month-end and quarter-end accruals and reconciliations; prepare and review flux analyses as needed.

-Assist in managing the monthly and annual financial close and review preliminary results for reasonableness.

-Support cash balance forecasting efforts across multiple cash accounts and subsidiaries. Substantiate financial transactions by auditing documents. Verify and analyze business records, transactions, and procedures, as needed.

-Assist with establishing and maintaining corporate accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure conformance with US GAAP and SOX laws/regulations.

-Initiate processes and streamline existing processes for efficiency and to sustain future growth of the company.

-Provide support on system implementation and improvement.

-Key contributor during external audits, which may include reviewing workpapers prepared by accountants/others, submitting requests and coordination to ensure audit timelines are met, and escalating issues as they arise.

-Support cross functionally where needed, as we are "One Tearn, One Dream".

Project Management and Execution

-Liasion with FP&A and AP to support the indirect procurement function for purposes of assessing the impact on the month-end and year-end accounting close. Ensure all impacted departments continuously work toward efficiency.

-Manage ERP implementation-related projects, as needed, as well as implementation of T&E and AP management solutions.

-Participate in/lead accounting operational effectiveness projects.

-Support cross functionally where needed and exhibit flexibility in order to support the finance and executive team on ad-hoc requests.

Requirements

Basic Requirements

-Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with 5-7 years' experience in Accounting, including supervision and management of accounting staff.

-CPA is desired, time spent in public accounting is preferred.

-Experience in a consumer products company or retailer dealing with trade spending a plus.

-Excellent knowledge and application of US GAAP.

-Advanced knowledge and experience in Excel and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

-Public company experience and/or consumer products experience a plus.

-Direct experience with Accounting ERP systems (NetSuite or SAP preferred).

-Proven ability to operate and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth company by maintaining focus and strong organization and time management skills.

-Proven team player and able to work with all levels of professionals internally and externally.

-Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.

-Ability to perform tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.

-Must have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

-Possess strong organization and time management skills.

$85,000 - $120,000 a year
