About the Role

The AP/AR Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the accounting department. Reporting to the VP Finance, Controller, the successful candidate will be a proactive leader capable of optimizing accounting operations and fostering collaboration across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage the AR and AP teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, collections and correspondence.
  • Foster strong communication with customers and vendors, promptly addressing billing and payment concerns, while cultivating positive relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Take a proactive approach to AR collections, swiftly identifying and addressing collection concerns to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Collaborate closely with the Treasury team to develop payment proposals and deliver collection forecasts that optimize working capital and cash flows.
  • Oversee the employee expense reimbursement process, ensuring compliance with company policies and timely processing.
  • Assist with sales tax filings and ensure compliance with state and provincial requirements.
  • Review month-end close accruals and provide essential support for the year-end audit process.
  • Ensure account reconciliations are performed on a timely basis to ensure accuracy of books and records.
  • Continuously identify and implement process improvements to align with team objectives and optimize workflow. Implement best practices to increase productivity.
  • Take the lead in initiating and executing system enhancements, including quick wins for immediate impact and larger-scale enhancement projects, to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Possess a strong understanding of financial systems and system integration. Experience with NetSuite Avalara and Concur an asset.
  • Collaborate with fellow managers and business leaders to streamline financial processes and address operational challenges.

Requirements:

  • Post secondary degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive work experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role, developing high performing teams and fostering positive culture.
  • Proficiency in financial systems and advanced Excel skills. NetSuite, Concur, Avalara an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with a focus on accuracy.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of US and Canadian sales tax requirements an asset.
