We are seeking a curious and motivated software developer to join our Acquisitions Conversion Department as an Application Development Engineer. This position involves designing, coding, testing, implementing, and maintaining applications used in the data conversions process. The position will also be involved in preparing and modifying technical documentation while providing research and recommendations of new development tools and applications to support the conversion process. The position will provide comprehensive solutions to extract data from legacy systems, transform data according to defined requirements, and load data into defined data models. The position works closely with Business System Analysts and IT Management to build reusable applications that are well documented and transferable to future conversion projects. May be responsible for managing work within a project.

Responsibilities

  • Design, code, test, implement, and maintain applications to be used in the data conversions process.
  • Interpret specifications and requests and understand how changes impact current applications and systems.
  • Interface regularly with key customers and agile stakeholders to report progress, problems/defects and future work aligned to business needs.
  • Research technology changes and make recommendations of new tools and applications to support data conversions.
  • Develop and maintain company and industry knowledge.
  • Ensure that all programming changes and enhancements are thoroughly documented and meet corporate standards.
  • Quickly diagnose complex production support problems; determine and implement quality solutions in a timely fashion to reduce business impact

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of applicable work and/or technical experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS or other related computer field may be substituted for some work and/or technical experience.
  • Proficient in programming languages such C#, JavaScript, and SQL.
  • Working understanding of the Microsoft Technology Stack.
  • 2+ years creating websites and coding projects.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Superb organizational and time management skills.
  • Great collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems.
  • Must be self- motivated, able to work and learn independently, coachable and committed to continuous learning.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members, both verbally and in writing.

Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.

This position also offers additional incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance.
