Job Title: Art Director

Division & Department: Education Innovations

Status: Full-Time Exempt

Reports to: Senior Content Director

Location: Remote - Anywhere in the contiguous US (UT preferred)

Job Summary

The Art Director will be responsible for leading and inspiring the creative vision for our brand, ensuring that all visual materials and designs align with our company’s values, message, and objectives. They will set standards and build relationships to allow creative production through a network of vendors and contractors. The Art Director will bring a mix of creativity and leadership to the position.

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain and evolve a consistent visual brand identity across all products, including print, and digital presentations.
  • Collaborate with the platform team and UX/UI Designer to ensure consistency in client experience online and offline.
  • Conceptualize and create compelling graphics, illustrations, and visual content that resonate with our target audience.
  • Ensure all design elements align with FranklinCovey's brand guidelines and communicate the brand's essence effectively.
  • Contribute to the development of FranklinCovey Education brand guidelines and equip internal and external content creators to produce work that aligns to those guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the project management team to ensure proper management of digital assets.
  • Nurture collaborative relationships with external graphic designers, illustrators, and other creative professionals to ensure high-quality and innovative design solutions.
  • Ensure external creatives consistently deliver exceptional creative work that meets project objectives, standards, and deadlines.
  • Provide clear and constructive feedback to the external creative team during the ideation and design process, guiding them to achieve the desired visual direction.
  • Personally design comps and finished graphics for quick-turnaround projects, smaller projects, new design directions, or as needed.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
  • Preflight files for printing and ensure quality in the printing process.
  • Stay abreast of the latest design trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure FranklinCovey's visual communications are innovative and cutting-edge.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for improvement and innovation within the creative department.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as an Art Director, or in a similar creative leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in fine art, graphic design, or similar discipline.
  • Portfolio

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Portfolio displaying a diverse range of creative work, highlighting both conceptual and executional abilities.
  • Design experience in Education or related field.
  • Proficient with design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with external agencies, freelancers and vendors to deliver outstanding results.
  • Strong understanding of branding, typography, color theory, and design principles.
  • Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of accessibility and inclusivity concepts in design, such as readability, legibility, color selection, diversity, and language choice.
  • Strong creative vision with an understanding of business objectives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Location-specific compensation:

California - Anticipated compensation for this position is $90-95k base salary. Actual offer may be outside of this range and will be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data.
