Our Marketing team, Waste Creative Japan is now looking for Art Director!

What we’re looking for:

A talented art director to join our growing Japanese team. You’ll need to be great at art-directing everything from a static UA banner to a 5-minute video. Waste specialises in entertainment and gaming brands. So, it’s vital that you are an active gamer with a love of mobile games and you love immersing yourself in the culture of games and gamers. A track record of concept and delivering bigger ideas would be a great addition – ATL work, larger activations, content campaigns, etc.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiple projects and work streams co-currently from concept to delivery.
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the design team.
  • Review, direct and provide positive, constructive feedback for the designers.
  • Quality control, feedback and sign-off responsibilities.
  • Conduct 1 to 1's with direct reports and yearly performance reviews.
  • As a senior, they’ll also help guide, develop and mentor the team, providing continuous feedback and constructive critiques of their work.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience as an art director at an agency or in-house
  • Fluent in both English and Japanese
  • A solid portfolio with examples of great art direction, with a strong focus on display advertising and social content.
  • The ability to work with type, motion or live action.
  • Excellent knowledge of all social channels.
  • Strong understanding of how to structure a winning pitch deck.
  • The ability to sell ideas, both in person and in a deck.

Business hours and Location:

  • Flexibility in time - We all have different creative clocks, and you know yours better than we do. We expect you to work 8 hours daily from Monday to Friday with core hours between 11:00 and 16:00 (excluding a 1-hour break). The rest will be up to you.
  • Flexibility in location - Waste fully embraces telework, and most of us work from home. Office space is also available for your convenience, and you will have access to meeting rooms and hot desks.

  • You must reside in Japan during your employment at Waste. We offer legal support for visa applications. Depending on your situation, we may allow you to work outside of Japan during your probation period.
