The Opportunity:

Alpha Lion is looking for an experienced design expert that loves using their imagination to push the envelope and create engaging designs on a brand level for ads and websites. We are looking for a player-coach who can dive in now and get their hands dirty, then help build and manage a team it grows.

Responsibilities:

  • Concept and help develop exceptional creative for ads on paid and owned channels, including brand campaigns, and DR ads, for every social channel. Manage and execute the look and feel of design on every major channel, including email, website, and packaging.
  • Build, manage, and mentor our in-house creative team.
  • Manage freelance designers and resources.
  • Partner with content creators for video and photography for concepts and art directions.
  • Manage outside UI/UX resources and collaborate with CRO to design brand site web pages, landing pages, and splash pages.
  • Partner with Project Manager and inner-department managers to help manage the workflow of our in-house creative team, and ensure seamless production between video, web, copy & design.
  • Ideate and assist in photo and video shoots (including storyboard, location, casting, and styling), and attend shoots in person, working closely with image and video talent.
  • Skill at art direction for all pertinent genres of photography: Editorial, Product, Lifestyle, eComm
  • Work with Brand leaders to develop a brand guide.
  • Execute brand guide by implementing process, procedure and best practices to follow guidelines (including art direction, graphics, typography, video, commissioned and organic content), oversee implementation and cohesiveness of the visual expression of the brand (Create a
  • Work with PM and cross-departmentally to manage creative request/approval process, and align with marketing and ecommerce teams to ensure that creative execution aligns with briefs.
  • Own & effectively communicate our visual direction to internal and external teams.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience crafting outstanding creative at a design firm, agency, or premium direct-to-consumer brand(s).
  • Experience managing a successful creative team, even a small one.
  • Experience executing across a varied spectrum of design and brand work, with an emphasis on digital, but a working knowledge of print and packaging.
  • Expert understanding of graphic design principles with practical knowledge and application of design principles and art direction to photography, and videography.
  • A portfolio of exceptional, relevant work with an emphasis on advertising
  • BFA or BA in graphic design, advertising, fine arts, or relevant field.
  • Highly skilled in relevant Adobe Creative Suite applications
  • Very capable hands-on skills, and the ability to toggle between day-to-day tactical execution while identifying and tracking big-picture strategic brand initiatives.
  • An ability to manage others, while also personally producing excellent work.
  • A finger on the pulse of the zeitgeist of relevant trends, culture, current events, and competitors.
