Assistant Controller
The Assistant Controller will play a critical role in overseeing financial reporting, managing the general ledger, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records. The Controller Advisor will have a strong background in public accounting, with a focus on audit, and industry experience in technical accounting, general ledger management, journal entries, and reconciliations. This position is also directly involved in the month end close process, the preparation of monthly financial statement reporting and assisting with account reconciliations to support the integrity of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP. May train accounting staff. Will coordinate work with internal and external auditors.
Essential Functions: In addition to working as prescribed in our Performance Factors specific responsibilities of this role include:
- Analyze data and provide insights into performance, trends, and areas of improvement or concern, assisting in decision making processes
- Support cross functional teams with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Support overall financial management functions including billing, AR, AP, job costing, treasury management, and the general ledger
- Prepare and deliver accurate and timely financial reports to third party service providers, owners, and managers
- Collaborate with Accounting Manager to maintain and update the general ledger system
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Stay current with accounting standards and regulations, making recommendations for process improvements as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Experience/Certification Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in Public Accounting, with a strong focus on audit is required.
- 3-4 years of experience industry experience (Services & Manufacturing preferred)
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and time-management skills.
- Must be detail oriented and able to follow through on issues to resolution.
- Must be able to act both independently and as a team member.
