We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Assistant Editor and Reporter to join our team. This is a fully remote position focused on covering daily news topics in a specific business niche for a well-established website and magazine. The role combines quick, accurate reporting with longer-form storytelling, offering opportunities for growth in editorial management and special projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and deliver 4 to 5 daily stories based on incoming news.
  • Develop and write longer-form stories for special features, including interviewing sources via phone, email, and Teams.
  • Conduct ongoing editorial work such as proofreading and editing to ensure high-quality content.
  • Collaborate with the managing director to align with editorial objectives.

Work Environment

  • Fully remote position with negotiable full-time schedule. Initial hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST.
  • Report directly to the managing director with significant one-on-one collaboration.
  • Minimal teamwork; focus on individual contribution and direct communication.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of journalism or reporting experience, preferably in English.
  • Proven ability to write quickly and error-free under tight deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a small company environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with proficiency in English (written and conversational).
  • Comfortable using tools like Slack and Microsoft.
  • Stable home environment and ability to manage work autonomously.
