About the role:

Winona is a fast-growing startup, and we're looking for a passionate full-time Associate Editor who thrives in a collaborative and dynamic environment. You'll wear multiple, be instrumental in shaping our brand voice, and will be reporting directly to our Editorial Manager.

Seniority Level: Mid-Senior Level

Responsibilities:

  • Review, edit, and proofread copies and any form of content across multiple platforms, ensuring it meets quality standards, is factually accurate, and adheres to the organization's style guide.
  • Ensure all published content is free of grammatical, spelling, punctuation, and syntax errors, and adjust content tone and style as needed.
  • Fact-check information and verify sources as needed.
  • Meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Work closely with writers and content creators to refine their submissions, providing constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  • Assist with administrative tasks the team needs, keep systems up to date, and coordinate efforts to manage team deliverables.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 or 3 years of experience in copy editing or related editorial roles.
  • Strong command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and digital publishing tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A deep understanding of the organization's tone, audience, and brand guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
