Ten Oaks is seeking highly driven, up-and-coming operating professionals to accelerate value creation in our portfolio companies. As an Associate Operating Partner, your role will be focused on working directly with our portfolio companies and under the guidance of tenured Operating Partners to execute on the highest impact initiatives across our portfolio. Projects are highly diverse, driving commercial, operational, and organizational transformations. Ten Oaks is a leader in corporate carve-outs and sees exceptional deal flow, closing double-digit transactions annually. 

The Associate Operating Partner is a key contributor to executive teams and supports critical strategic initiatives. This individual is highly action-oriented and able to quickly and effectively execute on targeted initiatives to drive forward 'What Really Matter' priorities, with minimal guidance needed from leadership. The Associate Operating Partner is hands-on with data and performs analyses to inform and develop portfolio company strategy as well as implements resulting initiatives. They should be pre-disposed to roll up their sleeves and deep dive into an area and rapidly build expertise to resolve a critical issue. Primary responsibilities will include: 

  • Own and drive mission-critical projects in portfolio companies, ranging across business functions and industries 
  • Function as a thought-partner and trusted resource to the management team, leading optimization-focused efforts throughout the portfolio companies
  • Work hands-on with portfolio operational resources to execute on projects; manage portfolio resources/teams as necessary to complete projects
  • Perform detailed analyses to understand and prove business case / impact; set up KPIs for ongoing management / monitoring to drive better data-driven decisions
  • Report out to executive leadership on project progress, milestones, risks/issues, etc.
  • Develop strong, trust-based relationships and rapport with portfolio operational teams to maximize team motivation and output
  • Leverage best practices in project management to drive project success and effective communication with portfolio companies and Ten Oaks management 
  • Create process flow documentation and other optimization-focused collateral/analysis for use in projects and documentation 

Ideal candidates will possess the following attributes: 

  • 3-5 years’ experience at a top-tier management and/or implementation-focused consulting firm, or equivalent operational experience 
  • Has a do-whatever-it-takes mentality, and has a propensity to get in the weeds and perform data-driven analysis 
  • High EQ and ability to be compatible with any working style; skilled in developing and managing relationships 
  • Experience managing a team and communicating with executive-level leadership; hungry for a stretch role and can step into leadership positions in any functional area using foundational leadership and management principles on an interim basis 
  • Strong experience in project management, successfully completing complex projects, and is a natural problem solver
  • Highly skilled in data analysis and building excel-based models to analyze core business performance
  • Operational athlete who is proactive, biased-toward-action, detail-oriented, highly organized, and an effective communicator
  • Comfortable with and skilled at holding others accountable; skilled at stakeholder management
  • Adept in dealing with ambiguity and being able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work across sectors and business function; can quickly ramp up on new subject matters
