Job Description:

As we continue to expand, we're seeking DevOps Engineers who are eager to join us on our journey of success and are passionate about staying ahead of the curve, embracing new technologies along the way! 

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in the development and implementation of our new data technology infrastructure. As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining our cloud-based data platform, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and security. You will collaborate closely with the Lead Architect and Data Engineer to create a robust and efficient cloud environment that supports our business needs. Experience with Terraform is essential for this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Be confident in being a trusted advisor to our clients, looking out for clients’
  • needs and being able to sell in a consultative manner by taking complex
  • technical problems and translating them into easy to understand solutions.
  • Write high quality Terraform modules with a primary focus on Azure, but experience with AWS would be beneficial.
  • Design and implement a scalable cloud infrastructure to host our platforms ensuring high availability and reliability.
  • Deploy and manage cloud services and resources, ensuring optimal performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
  • Implement automation and orchestration techniques to optimize processes, improve quality, and enhance the speed of our platforms and the delivery of our platforms. We primarily use Python in our automation, so good skills here would be beneficial.
  • Ensure the security and governance of the cloud environment, implementing robust access controls and monitoring mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to build re-usable solutions and avoid wasted time re-inventing the wheel.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Attend and contribute to all required team meetings, stakeholder meetings, standups etc…

Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer, working with major cloud providers
  • (primarily Azure, but some cross cloud experience would be beneficial).
  • Strong expertise in cloud architecture, infrastructure design, and deployment methodologies.
  • Proficient in cloud automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, CDK etc…).
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
  • Experience with ‘serverless’ technologies (e.g. Azure Functions, Lambda etc…).
  • Familiarity with data management and processing tools (e.g., Apache Kafka, Spark, Hadoop).
  • Knowledge of the Strangler pattern and experience transitioning legacy services to modern infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of networking, security, and data privacy/governance principles in the cloud environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a distributed systems environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
