This is a fully remote position within the United States.
About the Role
As a Backend Engineer, you'll drive the development of features, enhancements, and integrations for our core services. Your focus is on crafting a secure, well-tested, and high-performing product. This role spans both restaurant and applicant sides of our marketplace, giving you a central role in shaping our entire ecosystem.
This role also will collaborate cross-functionally with product, other engineering functions, and our go-to-market, and customer success teams to ensure a cohesive and collaborative effort. Together, we work towards delivering the best possible experience and product to our customers.
About You
We are looking for an experienced and proactive engineer who thrives in a remote work setting and is passionate about elevating product quality, security, and performance. Your background should showcase your adeptness at identifying and resolving technical challenges of moderate to high complexity, including addressing 'technical debt' to enhance team efficiency.
If you have a knack for defining, evangelizing, and collaborating on best practices and coding standards, you will appreciate working with like-minded engineers at Seasoned.
In addition to the above, you can expect to:
- Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web / mobile environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.
- Work effectively under pressure, independently, and within a collaborative team-oriented environment using sound judgment in decision-making.
- Ship features and improvements with minimal guidance and collaboration from other Engineers.
- Demonstrate your passion for learning and constantly look to improve your engineering skills in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.

To be setup for Success we ask for:
- 4+ years personal and professional experience in the software industry.
- 3+ years of experience delivering enterprise-class applications with at least three most recent years working with ES6/7 JavaScript, TypeScript, and similar technologies.
- 3+ years of experience developing and managing RESTful API applications with proven production-scale experience.
- 3+ years experience building scalable applications in AWS with services including SQS, EventBridge, Docker, and AWS Lambda.
- 3+ years of experience with Node.JS libraries and testing frameworks (e.g., Mocha and Jest).
- Thorough understanding of distributed microservices architecture, design and implementation.
- Demonstrable capacity to clearly and concisely communicate about complex technical, architectural, and organizational problems and propose comprehensive iterative solutions.
- Experience working on a project from concept to production, including proposal, design, and execution.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship
Not necessary for success but we like to see:
- Relational Database design and optimization with PostgreSQL.
- Experience with performance and optimization problems with a demonstrated ability to both diagnose and prevent these problems.
