Job Opportunity for Backup Engineer II/ III (Commvault experience must)

Job Profile Summary
Responsible for adhering to company security policies and procedures and any other relevant policies and standards as directed. Responsible for day to day monitoring, maintenance, and development of the Backup and Storage infrastructure throughout our global datacenters.
Backup and Storage Infrastructure Engineers have an extensive knowledge of storage and backup technologies and will handle escalations, and where necessary, work through these issues to resolution with the appropriate vendor.

• Schedule maintenances; develop implementation plans and documentation; review and monitor end to end processes
• Create Change Requests to perform software maintenances and hardware refreshes
• Work with vendors to escalate and resolve more complex issues
• Evaluate processes and procedures to identify efficiencies; develop strategies for implementation and provide change management and documentation
• Design and build new infrastructure components, as needed
• Create and update wiki articles where the process deviates from documentation or lacks detai
l • Technical point of escalation to the Storage and Backup Support teams; resolving customer issues, working in collaboration with partners across the business, as required
• Evaluate escalated issues, determine, and execute resolutions to resolve multi-customer impacting events, often requiring on-the-spot decisions
• Lead tasks relating to problem management, process improvement, reporting, and customer infrastructure
• Lead functional business continuity/transformational projects and customer engagements (both technical and non-technical), delivering key objectives for the Storage and Backup Function
• Develop technical training for storage and backup and the support organization
• Mentor and assist Rackers across the organization
• Provide technical expertise underpinning communications targeting a range of stakeholders - from individual contributors to leaders across the business
• Collaborate with Account Managers and Business Development Consultants to build strong customer relationships
• Collaborate and share knowledge with other Engineers and Administrators on the support floor Knowledge
• Strong technical knowledge in technology troubleshooting methodologies, design, and implementation
• Strong knowledge of data backup and restoration methodologies
• Strong knowledge of, but not limited to MMC consoles, event viewer, Strong FTP file transfers, user permissions, and service management within Microsoft Windows Server and/or the ability to (but not limited to) navigate file systems, editing with vi, identify running services and processes, SSH and FTP, file permissions, and Strong network troubleshooting tools within Redhat Linux
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, Email, and networking
• Strong knowledge and understanding of troubleshooting, testing, and performance tuning in Storage platforms • Strong knowledge of storage best practices for current VMware, Windows and Linux operation systems, File systems, SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and Exchange
• Strong working knowledge of Networking, Fiber Channel concepts, and technologies
• Strong understanding of patching - documents changes based on requests for change
• Strong ability to apply change control procedures
• Strong ability to perform cross platform troubleshooting tasks
• Proficient knowledge an applied experience of both Project Management methodologies and Process Improvement best-practice
• Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines
• Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market Skills

Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related technical field
• At the Manager's discretion, 4 years of additional related experience may substitute for the degree requirement; if substitution allowed, regional equivalent to High School Diploma is required.
Certifications
• Commvault Certified Professional Required
• NetApp Professional or Isilion PE Certification
Experience
• 5 - 7 years of technical engineering and administration experience
• A minimum of 4 years of experience maintaining storage arrays and backups
• Technical customer support experience in a cloud hosting/technology environment Physical Demands Schedule flexibility to include working weekends and/or evenings and holidays as required by the business for 24/7 operations.
