As a Barclays Business Development Director this is an exciting opportunity where you will bring new Travel Intermediary clients to Barclays Payments within the large/enterprise space, from both the UK and International. This includes pipeline management, ownership of the sales process, contractual execution, and implementation oversight. This is a great opportunity to utilise your natural people skills to communicate effectively with all key stakeholders, with the prime focus of developing increased revenue for our customers and Barclaycard.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?

• Establishing and managing a pipeline of Travel Intermediary clients, ensuring income targets are exceeded

  • Showing up as a customer advocate within Barclays to ensure our clients receive best-in-class payments consultation
  • Driving the customer agenda, shaping, and developing our future products and innovations
  • Working with key external and internal stakeholders. Making certain that all relationships are built on expertise and confidence
  • Leading and being the voice of expertise with our customers by seeing the world of payments through their eyes
  • Demonstrating a forward-thinking approach and ownership for all customer needs, requiring the ability to manage demanding requirements and priorities
  • Enticing and engaging with key business functions and senior colleagues, driving cross collaboration across Barclaycard and the wider Barclays group
  • Viewing as the internal expert for your customer’s acquiring and gateway requirements, developing awareness and driving forward opportunities through to live deals

What we’re looking for:

• Possess the ability to negotiate with key stakeholders at a senior level both internal and external to drive profitability with Tier 1 clients

  • Experience in driving business development success through strategic influence of key stakeholders, both internal and external
  • Significant knowledge of the Business-to-Business payments industry with the ability to build credibility and strong client relationships at all levels
  • Extensive experience of global industry trends and full knowledge of the impact that regulatory or scheme changes can have upon a client’s performance and future direction

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Possess a knowledge of the UK and European travel industry, both consumer and business

  • The ability to work creatively in an active fast paced industry to drive forward the Barclaycard vision; ensuring relationships are based on expertise, credibility, and trust
  • Fluent Spanish preferred. Additional languages also advantageous
