The Opportunity
This position works out of our Lake Forest, IL location in the Core Diagnostics Division. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers.
As the Business Excellence Manager, you’ll develop, standardize, and manage process excellence solutions that drive procurement performance for Abbott Core Diagnostics. Through data, metrics, stakeholder/ peer relationship management and continuous improvement, build the architecture for purchasing excellence that will assure effective management of division spend and drive lower total cost of ownership. Standardize processes, establish performance metrics, and increase utilization of business solutions/ systems to increase efficiency and consistency. Leverage market analytics and systems. Ensure supply continuity and supplier resiliency. Demonstrate skill and capability in influencing supply chain outcomes. Position requires close collaboration with and knowledge of product demand planning, quality assurance and technical requirements.
What You’ll Work On

- Proficiency with spreadsheet applications, data assessment, metric establishment, and statistical analysis.

- Drive Total Cost of Ownership reductions for spend through analytics and internal partnerships.
- Consulted for benchmarking.
- Drive initiatives that span virtual teams across the world and cross cultures.
- Partner with finance team to set cost standard expectations and drive the standard setting process while assuring data integrity.
- Track and report purchase price variance and financial trending for CoreDx purchasing operations in close collaboration with internal manufacturing operations.
- Partner and collaborate with key One Procurement staff of other Abbott divisions in order to support cross divisional business initiatives and drive Procurement synergies and efficiencies.
- Communicate vision and strategy for purchasing excellence and process evolution within the organization.
- Foster a collaborative environment among stakeholders.
- Initiate, build and maintain strong relationships across various functions, demonstrate the value-add of leveraging and build enthusiasm and support for adoption.
- Ensure optimal balance between value for money and cost savings is achieved, while ensuring quality and excellent customer service.
- Continually look for opportunities for efficiency and operational improvement.
- Lead by example.
Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree
- Minimum 4 years experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years progressively responsible experience in purchasing/commodity management. 3 years working in a highly regulated environment.
- Successful, 5+ year track record within business excellence, operations, procurement, supply chain management, project management or technical field.
- Strong system capabilities and data processing. Agility with spreadsheet development and data management through e-tools.
- Business excellence experience, lean six sigma certification a plus.
- Some functional experience in both procurement and category management desirable.
- Strong organizational skills, including program/project governance.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Strong interdisciplinary, and excellent intercultural influence, and networking skills.
- Ability to develop and execute against actionable implementation plans. Relevant business process knowledge. Strong ability to influence multiple stakeholders with negotiating skills.
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
- Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally.
