The Opportunity

As an Annuities Business Portfolio Manager, you will work in a dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative environment, with oversight and coordination of key business and technology enhancements and resolution of production issues to improve the overall customer and advisor experience. The role spans strategic third-party relationships as well as Home Office annuity business.

The Team

Our team works closely with internal business and external vendor partners to support business and technology advancements impacting the annuity new business experience. We are accountable to for the oversight and execution of a comprehensive portfolio of work including both strategic and tactical enhancements, continuous improvement opportunities and production support issues impacting our annuity business.

The Impact

As an Annuities Business Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring timely and accurate execution of a robust and growing portfolio of work efforts supporting the annuity experience. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading Annuity Portfolio Governance efforts across multiple distribution channels and business areas
  • Driving and influencing scope and prioritization of efforts
  • Accountability for ensuring timely and accurate execution and resolution of work efforts
  • Lead intake and prioritization efforts of entire portfolio
  • Identifying and removing barriers to execution
  • Establishing and implementing reporting and metrics, including presentation of monthly and quarterly business reviews with executive and senior leadership
  • Monitoring and reporting against goals and SLAs
  • Facilitating resource planning and commitments (internal and vendor partnerships)
  • Day-to-day oversight of project-related budgets and related reporting
  • Support Cost-Benefit-Analysis and make recommendations regarding portfolio execution
  • Manage Statements of Work and negotiations with vendor partners
  • Evaluating project delivery governance processes, workflows, artifacts and communications to develop and implement improvements
  • Gathering critical information and requirements from business partners and vendor resources to drive execution
  • Facilitate regular portfolio review meetings with various audiences and stakeholders
  • Serve as liaison and primary point of contact between business stakeholders and vendor partners
  • Provide production incident and defect support, including vendor coordination and business communications

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5 years+ of related experience in operations and/or project or portfolio management
  • Strong communication and influence
  • Ability to build and develop relationships with multiple stakeholder groups to drive adoption and deliver expected benefits
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively translate user feedback into business requirements and prioritization
  • Ability to independently multi-task and manage competing projects and priorities
  • Strong attention to detail while maintaining big picture view to ensure alignment across disciplines and stakeholder groups
  • Ability to think strategically as well as near term, to assess process and project impacts, with an agile mindset
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, evolving culture requiring adaptability and flexibility in work efforts and behaviors

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of annuities
  • Experience managing vendor relationships
  • Experience overseeing a multi-line of business project portfolio
  • Oversight of budget and financials
  • Resource planning
  • Experience and knowledge of project management disciplines

Position Location

  • Applicants currently within a commutable distance to MassMutual's Springfield office will be required to from the home office 2 days a week
  • Applicants not within a commutable distance will work in a REMOTE capacity
