Job Description

You will work closely with the Certification Product Development team, LF Project team members, and Subject Matter Experts to build Certification exam content, exam products, and related documentation. Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist exam and engineering staff with written content needed to support Certification programs on behalf of The Linux Foundation Projects
  • Draft, revise, and maintain documentation (internal and customer-facing) related to Certification exams and Certification exam products including instructions, handbooks, tips and guidelines, and agreements
  • Draft, review, and maintain text content within Certification exams 
  • Learn to support or coordinate projects to develop new exam content or updates within provided tooling
  • Assist with QA testing exam content to identify bugs/issues and support the resolution process
  • Review and analyze certification exam completion surveys
  • Maintain content consistency between various sources of documentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation resources on behalf of the team
  • Copy editing 

Qualifications

  • Technical Writing: You have experience creating technical content and can provide work samples. You can distill highly technical concepts into simple terms and provide instructions with special consideration given to readers with English as a second language.
  • Communication: You are a careful but confident communicator. You are as comfortable speaking during on-line meetings as you are communicating via asynchronous tools (email, Slack, JIRA).
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding advanced technical concepts and terminology is desirable but having the ability to learn quickly is more important. You are proficient with (or eager to learn) tools such as GitHub, Gitbook, Google Apps, VS Code, JIRA, and Confluence.
  • Self-Leadership: You are self-motivated, productive in a virtual workplace, well-organized, attentive to detail, and process-oriented. You enjoy working on multiple projects simultaneously. Experience leading or managing projects is a huge advantage.
  • Attitude: At The Linux Foundation, your attitude is as vital as your aptitude (maybe even more!). You are upbeat and able to work with all personality types. You are mindful of the Linux Foundation’s overall mission to support Open Source projects while always being Helpful, Hopeful, and Humble.
  • Flexibility: You can shift schedules (as needed) to accommodate colleagues across global time zones. (This team primarily works during US Central (CST/CDT) business hours -- but accommodates team members and projects worldwide.)

Additional Information

  • Including links to your online work samples with your resume
  • Having certifications: LFCAKCNA, PMI, or others 
  • Familiarity with open source software (Tip: for free training LFD102)
  • Experience using Linux or Linux Foundation projects (Tip: for free training LFS101)
  • Experience in writing for learning and development programs, training courses, or testing
  • Knowing what Psychometrics is
  • Multi-lingual
