Character Tech Artist (Rigging + Animation)

Are you looking to work with a tight knit team of artists and developers from across the world and have a huge impact on creating AAA games. Counterplay Games is seeking a self driven Senior Character Technical Artist (Rigging) to use their rigging prowess and technical know-how to inspire and help push the boundaries of character work on our next gen titles. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, create, test, and maintain character rigs/setups
  • Experience setting up joint and FACS based face rigs
  • Effectively communicate model feedback and work with modelling to create models that meet rigging requirements
  • Work closely with animation and Technical art leads to plan character skeleton and control distribution
  • Identify deficiencies in the character production pipeline and own the development of new techniques and processes
  • Experience setting up character and animation blueprints in Unreal Engine
  • Capable of maintaining rigging API and tools code base
  • Work with production management to prioritize tasks
  • Keep up to date with new technologies in film and game production

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:

  • 5+ years of production experience in Games, Feature Film or VFX
  • In-depth knowledge of Maya
  • Strong understanding of Body and Facial Anatomy
  • Experience rigging complex characters, creatures and vehicles in Maya (film, broadcast, or game environments)
  • Programming experience with scripting in python, Pymel, PyQt/PySide and maya API
  • Experience setting up production workflows based on project needs, while being able to follow guidelines
  • The ability to take initiative and work independently

BONUS SKILLS:

  • Solid Linear Algebra
  • Experience with C++ and C#
  • Experience using Physics systems (ncloth, Ziva, etc.)
