Job Description
Blend is seeking an entrepreneurial, business-oriented individual to join our executive team as the Chief People Officer (CPO). This role is pivotal in leading Blend's people strategy to support our growth and innovation. The CPO will define and lead corporate-wide initiatives, partnering with senior leadership to develop and evolve leaders within the organization. Working closely with executives and the board of directors, they will ensure that Blend has the best-of-the-world talent required to drive client outcomes and achieve our corporate vision.
The CPO will own and drive major growth initiatives and play a key advisory role in several areas:
- Employee Engagement and Retention: The CPO is responsible for fostering a positive work environment and promoting employee engagement and retention. This involves implementing initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction, morale, and motivation, such as employee recognition programs, career development opportunities, and work-life balance initiatives."
- Learning and Development: The CPO oversees learning and development initiatives to enhance the skills, knowledge, and capabilities of employees. This includes designing and implementing training programs, leadership development initiatives, and talent management strategies to support employee growth and career advancement."
- Compensation and Benefits: The CPO is responsible for designing and managing the organization's compensation and benefits programs to attract, retain, and motivate employees. This includes conducting benchmarking studies, designing competitive salary structures, managing employee benefits packages, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements."
- Performance Management and Development: The CPO oversees the performance management process, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback mechanisms. They work with managers and employees to identify development opportunities, provide coaching and mentoring, and support career progression and professional growth."
- Internal Communication Strategy: As the company grows and evolves, the CPO owns communicating company changes to all employees. They will develop and execute effective communication strategies to ensure our team understands corporate strategy and their role in bringing it to life.
- HR Technology and Analytics: The CPO leverages HR technology and analytics to drive data-driven decision-making and improve HR processes and practices. This includes implementing HRIS systems, workforce analytics tools, and other technology solutions to streamline HR operations, enhance employee experiences, and measure HR performance metrics."
- Workforce Planning and Succession Planning: The CPO leads workforce planning efforts to ensure that the organization has the right talent in place to meet current and future business needs. They identify key talent gaps, develop succession plans for critical roles, and implement strategies to build a pipeline of future leaders within the organization.
- Organizational Culture and Diversity: The CPO plays a key role in shaping and maintaining the organization's culture. They develop strategies to promote a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace where all employees feel valued and respected. This may include implementing diversity and inclusion programs, cultural initiatives, and fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment.
- External Employee Platforms: The CPO monitors relevant social media platforms, e.g., Glassdoor, to understand the implications for our reputation (internal and external). They develop appropriate responses to issues raised by the Blend team.
SUCCESS MEASURES:
CPO will develop and monitor quantitative results metrics in consultation with the Executive Leadership Team. Measures will include the following, among others:
- Employee Engagement Scores
- Employee Retention Rates
- Employee Satisfaction Scores
- Training and Development Metrics (e.g., uptake rates and outcome measures for training programs and employee development opportunities)
- DEI Metrics (e.g., representation rates, diversity in leadership positions, and the effectiveness of diversity initiatives, etc.)
Qualifications
- Prior experience leading the People function in a high-growth, global services organization.
- Demonstrated ability to scale a team from 2K to 5K employees in a competitive, tech-oriented field.
- Track record of building and leading successful people teams and demonstrated experience in creating and executing strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives.
- Team-first, people-first orientation.
- Strategic business acumen and the ability to connect people strategy to operational growth.
- History of developing top talent & passion for developing junior talent.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions and to find creative solutions to cultural, administrative, and organizational challenges.
- Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and delegate effectively.
- Experience leading complex, major change initiatives, including M&A experience.
- Deep understanding of human resource management principles, practices, regulations, and procedures.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field; master’s degree preferred.
