JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Program Content Writer position is a full-time position within the Clinical Program Development and Health Equity Team and will report directly to the Clinical Program Director. This Senior Advisor role will have dependency on deep consultation and collaboration with team’s content partner. The Clinical Content Writer’s primary role is to research, curate, create, edit, and maintain high quality multi-media content which will be used to enable behavior change, customer activation and customer engagement in a digital experience. The Clinical Content Writer assures clinical accuracy and relevance of content, confirm alignment with evidence-based standards, and assure content is written clearly and in a customer-centered way. The content typically pertains to chronic conditions, prevention, and lifestyle topics.

The Clinical Program Content Writer works collaboratively with clinical program designers, clinical program writers and editor, product, development, quality, legal, user experience teams and others to create content that can be used across multiple mediums. This position requires an individual with a blend of clinical knowledge, business acumen, excellent written communication skills, and interpersonal skills who excels at developing engaging digital clinical content proven to drive behavior change and improve health.

The ideal candidate has a strong, independent work ethic and high emotional intelligence. This role requires adherence to timelines and deadlines and the ability to handle multiple topics efficiently within a collaborative team environment.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research, curate, write, edit and maintain content for web and mobile and assure clarity, clinical integrity, and consistency with evidence-based guidelines, standards of care, health literacy standards, style guidelines, and Cigna policies

Content may be internal or external facing

Content may include items such as training materials, marketing materials, customer materials, client materials, provider materials

Content spans across all eligible delivery channels (digital, telephonic, mobile, via on site clinics, etc.).

Serve as a subject matter expert on how best to provide patient-centered, empathetic clinical content in a way that encourages engagement and drives behavior change

Work collaboratively with clinical content team to write engaging health content based on content ideas and outlines, submitting copy to clinical content partner for editing and final approval

Work collaboratively with internal teams (including: clinical program managers, product, operations, UX design teams) to build digital content, including advanced and automatic content workflows, tagging, information architecture, uploading to content management systems, and other processes

Collaborate with external stakeholders (including: vendors, customers, providers, and clients as necessary) to meet project objectives Partner with other internal and external subject matter experts to ensure content meets requirements for inter-professional accreditation as well as meeting necessary health care quality, safety, accreditation, and regulatory requirements Support improvement of user experiences by creating useful and usable content that's well-structured, concise, and represents content strategy best practices.

Collaborate closely with experience designers to identify key user journeys and define content structures and hierarchies, in order to present information that best supports the user.

Be flexible in copywriting processes, including the ability to spot opportunities for getting content to delivery faster.

Balance small and large project demands and timelines on a day-to-day and week-by-week basis.

Build best practices and assist in development of process to systematically request and review clinical content reviews

Manage assigned projects to timely completion and meet goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or similar preferred OR from a health-related field of study such as Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or Behavioral Health.

3+ years’ experience UX writing/editing and managing clinical content in healthcare setting

Experience includes coaching to drive behavior change

Understanding of instructional design and learning architecture

Experience in education needs analysis and multimedia curriculum design

Experience in multimedia, web technologies and graphics

Experience engaging customers into digital programs

Experience ensuring clinical integrity of written material, video content

Strong working knowledge of clinical practice guidelines and preventive standards

Previous editorial and user experience in healthcare publishing/media or health education preferred

SKILLS:

Must be passionate about curating, writing, and editing on clinical topics

An understanding of the science of behavior change, particularly as applied to patient activation and engagement best practices

Excellent editorial (editing and writing) skills in the area of patient education

Excellent command of the English language in both spoken and written forms (English required, Spanish a plus)

Strong writing skills with a clear concise style and excellent grammar, punctuation, and spelling

Skilled in writing both short form (UX, digital) and long form (full articles) content

Proficiency in communicating complex medical information to a consumer audience

Familiarity with leveraging wireframe designs and other design visuals as an aid in developing content structure and hierarchy.

Experience with Agile development concepts

Excellent interpersonal skills (communication and listening)

High professionalism and easy rapport in building collaborative work relationships

Strong working knowledge of current evidence-based clinical guidelines and standards of care

Must be able to take responsibility for the scientific accuracy and integrity of all materials developed

Exceptional organization skills, strong ability to prioritize and time manage

Must possess strong proofreading skills and absolute attention to detail

Must partner will with 3rd party content partners, conduct content gap analysis and assure standardization and consistent brand representation (as appropriate) across content types

Pursues everything with positive energy, drive and passion

Must be open to constructive feedback

Excellent computer skills that include working on shared networks and a high degree of proficiency using Microsoft Office products, authoring tools, and content management systems.

Travel potential occasional

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 109,500 - 182,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
