We are looking for a talented Cloud Engineer who is passionate about building a DevOps culture and open to learning about new technologies and ideas. We are in a great evolutionary time within Degreed as we move more of our infrastructure and services over to container based technology. You will learn, grow professionally, contribute to an amazing team, and play a key role in fueling a massive change in learning and learning recognition.

The team you will be joining is the DevOps Team. The purpose of the DevOps team is to continue to improve the developer experience for all engineers at Degreed as well as modernizing the Degreed Infrastructure through Infrastructure as code. In this team we believe in autonomy, accountability, quality, writing things down, getting things done and working together on strong visions as well as having some fun along the way,

The ideal candidate shares these ideologies with us and is excited on educating their peers in the engineering organization on DevOps practices as well as working on a consistently growing platform across multiple regions. Location preference is West Coast time zone.

Day in the Life

  • Lead the charge as we continue to containerize our applications and services
  • Migration more of our infrastructure to code
  • Design, deploy, and maintain scalable networks
  • Build tools which encourage developers to take more ownership of their codebase
  • Work closely with stakeholders to gain understanding of new features, dependencies, and technical details
  • Deploy and configure new development tools and infrastructure
  • Work on ways to automate and improve the software delivery processes
  • Collaborate, educate, and empower other teams

Who You Are

  • Able to work autonomously and asynchronously
  • Experienced working remotely
  • Lifelong learner and passionate about discovering new things and taking on new challenges.
  • Possess strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
  • 3+ years of Supporting a high scale web based application in production
  • 3+ years of Deploying, Managing and Scaling Cloud Platform Resources - Azure, GCP, or AWS experience (Azure Preferred)
  • Experience with containers and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • Passionate about learning new things and taking on new challenges
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and Agile principles
  • Solution driven with ability to understand the big picture

What Sets You Apart

  • Writing and maintaining Terraform and Helm charts
  • GitHub Actions & Azure DevOps Experience
  • Azure SQL / SQL Server Experience, .NET/C#
  • Certification in Cloud Platform or Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with broad range of Cloud Platform Vendors
  • Experience working in a SaaS company or Startup
  • Navigating and Remediating Security Issues
  • Logging, Alerting, and Monitoring experience
  • ElasticSearch Production Experience

Compensation and Benefits at Degreed

Degreed is passionate about pay transparency and we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $127,000 - $169,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
