Collections Associate

The Collections Associate will work with our founders regarding all payment plans and account inquiries. They will be working collaboratively across many different functions including Finance, Customer Success, Product, and Risk and Data.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Respond to, investigate, and resolve customer issues by examining and evaluating customer payment plans and their payment history
  • Work with Payments Manager and engineering teams to build payment flows within new systems
  • Identify day-to-day delinquent accounts, the source of the problem, and underlying issues
  • Work in close partnership with internal teams to resolve customer issues
  • Invoice and update payment information for our customer accounts
  • Negotiate and implement payment plans via phone and email
  • Work closely with the Payments Manager to help resolve problems and provide quantitative feedback to build scalable processes and solutions
  • Generate reports and build data sets to make insightful recommendations and decisions to support the success of the team
  • Work on operational projects to build the process and tools to enable scalability and optimization
  • Provide account status reports, future projections related to your “book” of accounts

You will thrive if you have:

  • 2-4+ years of previous work experience in a customer facing role such as: Collections, Customer Service, Customer Success, Sales or Finance/Accounting
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Accounting/Finance and/or a related field
  • Strong Salesforce experience and the ability to contribute to the process optimization and documentation of new procedures
  • Working knowledge of business accounting concepts, financial statements
  • Exposure to the ecommerce industry, including metrics, channels and business models
  • Previous experience in a leadership and ability to mentor direct reports
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Suite, and data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, Periscope, etc.
  • Ability to negotiate and close deals and rapport building experience
  • An analytical mindset- you are able to take the data and translate them into actionable insights
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - you have the ability to navigate through difficult conversations with professionalism while maintaining a calm and empathetic demeanor
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills - you are able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Problem-solver abilities - you are able to think outside the box and find creative solutions to problems
  • The ability to deliver results independently and working in a remote first team environment
  • Startup and/or software experience a plus
