JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Engineering is seeking a communications professional to fill a part-time, writing-intensive position that will assist the college’s communications and marketing team. The expectation is approximately 10-24 hours per week with flexibility in workday schedule. The candidate can be on-site or remote.

Responsibilities:

To help influence perceptions of the College of Engineering and drive action and understanding among a range of audiences, the copywriter will draft and refine content for direct email, web, social media, news, and other marketing communications.

Qualifications:

This role demands strong writing skills including the ability to communicate complex information and ideas clearly, accurately, and creatively in a timely manner. The copywriter should be adept at delivering error-free copy that aligns with the voice of the college and then further sharpening that copy based on editor feedback. The role requires a high level of organization and professionalism including independent management of schedule and project workflow.

Bachelors degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or related field

2+ years of experience in writing marketing content

Ability to capture the Penn State brand voice

Experience in science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics is a plus

Candidates should submit 3 different types of writing samples and/or an online portfolio as part of their application.
