The Mortgage team is one of our newest and most exciting initiatives. We are rethinking mortgages from the ground up to help Canadians get the access they deserve to home loans. We will deliver a highly rewarding experience that also avoids all of the trappings of traditional mortgages. In short, this team is responsible for building a mortgage portfolio the Wealthsimple way - simple, transparent, and low-cost.
About the Role
- Work closely with Wealthsimple’s legal, compliance, product and marketing teams to build a mortgage compliance program
- Map legal requirements, prepare regulatory filings and draft policies and procedures for a mortgage program
- Assist with the launch of new products and services
- Communicate detailed requirements to product managers and engineering teams to implement innovative solutions
- Prepare and operationalise a plan for complying with new and newly applicable regulation
- Demonstrate leadership in helping teams build better processes, procedures and controls
- Identify and support opportunities to transform manual or inefficient processes
Skills You Bring
- 4+ years regulatory/compliance experience in mortgages, lending or similar;
- Ability to thrive on a fast paced team managing a constantly changing regulatory environment
- Effective leadership skills and the ability to contribute individually with minimal oversight
- Knowledge of the evolving mortgage legal and compliance ecosystem or an ability and willingness to learn very quickly
- Ability to understand and distill complex content into a clear and concise narrative and communicate with audiences at all levels
Nice to Haves
- Experience implementing and standing up compliance programs
- Experience working with emerging companies
- Mortgage Agent or Broker’s license
