GDIT is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer well skilled in project management to push NCT and USPS project initiatives forward and keep them on track and all stakeholders engaged, enabling delivery teams to do their work effectively.
HOW A COMPUTE ARCHITECT AND DEVSECOPS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
A Compute Architect and DevSecOps Engineer will provide support and be responsible for serving as a Compute and DevSecOps subject matter expert (SME); designing, managing and executing Service Innovation projects, initiatives and proofs of concept (POCs), and supportive or pursuant to such initiatives department wide; and engage, lead and/or support a team of IT professionals in completing projects on set deadlines to uphold business initiatives, and support and improve business operations.
The Compute Architect and DevSecOps Engineer will provide specific and ongoing technical support by performing the following tasks related in support of the Network and Compute Team initiative:
- Leads projects and initiatives for PaaS Solutions. Provides technical direction and guidance to others regarding the adoption and implementation of PaaS technologies and architecture. Ensures alignment with organizational strategies and objectives
- Provides leadership on automation of provisioning, patching, lifecycle of data technologies and application deployments utilizing DevSecOps strategies for use by applications, enterprise data & tenant architectures, and developers
- Provides leadership on automation of provisioning of service deployments through Cloud, PaaS, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), and Edge utilizing DevSecOps strategies for use by applications, enterprise data and tenant architectures
- Provides technical direction and guidance to others regarding the adoption and implementation of Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) technologies and architectures
- Designs or engineers physical and virtual compute, database, storage, cloud environments/services and backup technology offerings across a wide variety of systems and platforms including operating systems, web/app servers, event streaming, and containerization utilizing DevSecOps strategies
- Designs or engineers lifecycle of data technologies both mainstream and non-mainstream including operating guides, configuration baselines, and implementation standards for Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and Opensource technologies; This applies to server hardware, server operating systems, critical infrastructure applications, cloud-based technologies, middleware, data technologies, and other associated technologies
- Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot automation (e.g., Ansible WorX (AWX), Terraform, etc.) of provisioning, patching, network lifecycle, and voice technologies, utilizing DevSecOps strategies
- Provides escalated technical assistance to systems professionals engaged in the analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of IT systems; Escalates issues to appropriate personnel
- Designs or engineers optimized performance measurements, resiliency and security metrics utilizing standards, policies, processes and industry best practices for all technology offerings
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and approaches (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Squad), and ability to identify and meet critical project dates/milestones
- Designs or engineers existing on-premise technology offerings (e.g. mainframes, servers, appliances, databases, middleware components, operating systems
- Provides innovation expertise via research to evaluate emerging technologies for new offerings, technology service designs, and concept assessment/evaluation
- Provides project oversight and technical guidance to lower-level employees, and employees assigned on a project or task force basis
- Strong communication abilities, including utilization of multiple platforms; ability to develop and present information while factoring audience, expertise level and goal meeting; and ability to write and proof technical and non-technical documentation
- Work closely with business partners, stakeholders and technical teams to identify risks or impediments, and assist to develop and implement appropriate mitigating controls and corrective actions
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education:
- A degree from an accredited College or University in the field of services is preferred
Required Experience:
- 10+ years’ experience
Required Technical Skills:
- Experienced in managing/tracking projects and keeping projects plans
- Communications skills adequate to convey complex information and technical information effectively verbally in writing, using an array of platforms
- Ability to write, read and evaluate technical documentation and reports (e.g., After Action reports (AARs); project plans; proof of concept whitepapers; standard operating procedures (SOPs); technical evaluations and designs; etc.)
- Strong ability to compose creative and professional executive leadership team (ELT) and C-level presentations and communications via PowerPoint
- Maintain team SharePoint site and update with pertinent and timely information regarding projects, task, team activities, etc.
- Attend wide-ranging meetings, on behalf of department management, executive staff and C-level officers, for note taking, project/task tracking and support or provide ELT updates.
- Ability to communicate effectively with highly technical staff, to understand and participate in project overviews, components, tasks, etc.
- Report and assist with documenting SOPs, technical evaluations, and designs
Security Clearance Level:

- The security clearance for this program requires the selected candidate to have resided in the US for the past five years. The selected candidate cannot have left the country for longer than 90 consecutive days and no more than 180 cumulative days.

The likely salary range for this position is $124,000 - $186,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
