Background of the Project

In June 2023, WorldFish has partnered with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Cairo to initiate Center for Renewable Energy in Aquaculture (CeREA) project. A 4-year groundbreaking initiative to refine, test, and scale innovative renewable energy solutions that enable 5,000 fish producers, processors, and other fish value chain actors in Egypt to increase their productivity and incomes, leading to improved food and nutrition security, reduced food waste and loss, and more energy-efficient and climate-smart food value chains. Consultancy Objectives:

WorldFish seeks to hire an expert report writer and editor consultant to develop and produce a report integrating results from the comprehensive assessments (baseline study) of the CeREA project.

The specific objectives of the study are as follows:

  1. Write a report combining the findings and results from the scoping (baseline) study, including the social inclusion and climate assessments.
  2. Report on the findings to integrate the written content seamlessly with visuals and other design elements in alignment with the project objectives.
  3. Compile all the necessary information required in coordination with project consultants and project team.
  4. Prepare the report attachments to support the integrated report.

Scope of Work:

The consultant is expected to become familiar with project outcomes and outputs through a desk review of project key documents (e.g., logical framework, factsheet, etc.) and the reports of the scoping (baseline) study. He/ She will work in coordination with project consultants and WorldFish staff.

The consultant will be responsible for the following:

  1. Review project documents, project plans, reports of the scoping (baseline) study and other relevant materials and information to understand the project's scope.
  2. Develop a report outline and main content for feedback from the project team.
  3. Draft and edit a report of not more than 35–40 pages, ensuring the accuracy of all content. The report should include “Executive Summary” and structured narrative on comprehensive assessments, photos with captions and pull-out text boxes to highlight achievements and results.
  4. Incorporate feedback from project staff, baseline consultants and stakeholders into the report.
  5. Format and layout the report with WorldFish branding to produce a finished product.
  6. Integrate any feedback from the project lead and ensure accuracy, clarity, and coherence.
  7. Submit the final Integrated report in pdf and Word formats. 

Requirements

The consultant should have a bachelor’s degree at a minimum in communications, social sciences, Agri/Aqua economics, international development, natural sciences, environmental studies, business administration/management, or related discipline. In addition, the consultant should possess:

  • Minimum +5 years’ proven working experience in writing and editing technical reports, preferably in the aquaculture/renewable energy sector or other science and sustainable development fields.
  • Excellent report writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with demonstrated ability to organize materials, research, and re-write/ de-jargonize content.
  • Strong research and excellent command over the English language.
  • Advanced MS Word skills with the ability to format, create table of content, and incorporate photos, figures and tables for a professional-looking product.
  • Graphic designing skills to create infographics for the report, preferred but not essential).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with project staff and stakeholders.
  • Experience working with international organizations/ donor-funded projects is an advantage.
  • Prior experience working on a similar assignment will be an asset.

Location and Duration:

  • This consultancy duration for a maximum of 10 working days. The work shall be carried out between mid-April and mid-May 2024.
  • Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for virtual interviews by the mid of March.
  • The selection of consultant will be based on the relevant qualification and experience, and the most competitive proposal.
