We are looking for an organized, hands-on English Editor with at least 4 years of experience in a similar position, who has a keen eye for detail, understands how to optimize content, and possesses a critical-thinking mindset to transform average-looking articles into high-quality content promptly.
The ideal candidate will be a native English speaker fluent in Spanish. Additional languages, especially Italian and/or Brazilian Portuguese, will be considered a plus.
He/she must ultimately be a self-sufficient, fast-learner editor who enjoys professional challenges and understands what is needed and how it should be done.
Reporting to the Edition & Localization Team Lead, the candidate will be responsible for copyediting and proofreading SEO-based content related to a range of topics including travel/immigration policies and international affairs, among others, as well as managing and providing detailed feedback to our external writers and subject-matter experts.

Responsibilities
You’re our perfect candidate if you:
- Outsource, revise and occasionally optimize accurate, well-researched, and high-quality content in house style for our websites and blogs
- Prepare thoughtful and precise instructions before outsourcing our content pieces
- Provide constant and constructive feedback to our team of external collaborators
- Edit multiple feature-length, long-form articles per week
- Work closely with other team members to support wider editorial needs on their projects (content optimization, proofreading, and/or editorial proposals)
- Actively seek areas of improvement and find effective ways to solve/fix current issues
- Are punctual, organized, and professional in all aspects of the role (which ranges from implementing fact-checking best practices and accurate writing/editing techniques to having awareness of current competitors and delivering content in due time)
- Communicate with our Search Engine Optimization team to ensure content follows ever-evolving SEO best practices
- Help track and report the area’s main initiatives, metrics, duties, and achievements
- Meet the department’s quality standards, deadlines, and budget requirements
Other edition tasks include:
- Performing content improvements and/or rewrites when necessary
- Collaborating with our in-house Localization, Content, Outreach and SEO teams to make editorial proposals and define the common criteria and quality guidelines that must be considered during the editing/proofreading processes
- Leading the international search for new external writers, and/or collaborators/subject-matter experts using various tools, and managing their assessment, selection, and potential negotiation
- Effectively managing a budget linked to our content needs
Requirements
Your expertise in a nutshell:
- 4+ years of proven experience as a proofreader, copyeditor, and/or web content editor
- Native in English and fluent in Spanish
- A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Journalism and/or Communications
- Well-organized and with excellent time management skills, including prioritizing, scheduling, and adapting as necessary, especially for projects susceptible to strategic changes
- Able to respond to shifting priorities and demands based on organizational needs
- Enthusiastic and experienced in performing editorial duties (proofreading, copyediting, and providing constructive feedback to in-house and external writers)
- Keen to take a deep dive into editorial niches/long-tail content areas
- Love for the English language, paired with a passion for other languages and cultures, especially in researching trends, preferences, and market analysis
- Adept at improving content quality across languages, including unfamiliar ones
- Stay current with trends in digital content, such as interactive videos, visual content, and data-driven articles
- Proficiency in understanding how Google ranks results and the Google search works
- Monitor content performance and propose editorial improvements/optimizations based on key metrics (Search Console, Analytics, Ahrefs) to improve search engine positioning and attract organic traffic
- Proven familiarity with SEO best practices (e.g. E-E-A-T and others)
- Online passionate
- Comfortable working with AI technologies and curious about exploring new tools and processes involving artificial intelligence
- Be open to feedback and constantly seek ways to improve content and its impact
- Excellent self-motivation, written/verbal communication, and people skills
- Team player with a collaborative spirit
- Willing to learn from others/other areas of expertise
A plus:
- Specific training in search engine optimization best practices, web authority, digital PR, social media, and/or digital marketing tools/skills
- Good command of languages other than English and Spanish. Italian or Brazilian Portuguese will be highly valued
