We’re looking for an enthusiastic, goal-oriented Contract Attorney (Temp) to join our team who is excited about our passionate user base and is interested in joining a dedicated cross-functional team that engages with our customers and vendors.

As our Contract Attorney, your mission will be to support our Legal team in reviewing various contracts like NDAs, SaaS agreements, and Professional Services Agreements, in addition to reviewing and maintaining company records such as state/federal registrations and corporate governance documents. You should be excited about [supporting journalism and PR through market leading technology. You’ll be a great fit for this role if you’re experienced in contract drafting and negotiation as well as cross functional collaboration.

This temporary position offers the possibility of transitioning to a full-time role based on performance and company needs.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner closely with Sales, Deal Desk, and IT
  • First round review, interpret, draft, revise and negotiate terms in customer and vendor contracts. Our goal is to move contracts to completion in as expeditious a manner as possible while staying focused on protecting the interests of the Company.
  • Revise, update and maintain non-disclosure, and other standard form agreements; perform regular internal reviews of existing legacy contracts
  •  Support the legal team with training sessions and related projects

  • Work cross-functionally with various teams
  • Work collaboratively to provide recommendations to resolve to complex contract/company related questions

If the details below describe you, you could be a great fit for this role:

  • At least 1-3 years of experience as a working lawyer (In house preferred not required)
  • JD from an accredited law school and admission to a State Bar 
  • Experience supporting a Sales or GTM team to draft and negotiate commercial agreements
  • SaaS experience (strongly preferred) or working knowledge and experience with commercial contract terms and conditions with particular emphasis on the protection of intellectual property, confidentiality and minimizing liabilities and risks 
  • Data privacy experience (preferred) 
  • A strong working knowledge of Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
  • Prioritize tasks effectively, with the ability to triage and escalate when necessary
  • Exhibit adaptability to meet the diverse needs of different departments
  • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Salary

In the US, the base salary for this role is between $40 and $48/hour+, depending on skills and experience. We take a geo-neutral approach to compensation within the US, meaning that we pay based on job function and level, not location. For all other countries, we have competitive pay bands based on market standards.

Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall healthily throughout the range based on these factors. We recognize that the person we hire may be less experienced (or more senior) than this job description as posted. If that ends up being the case, the updated salary range will be communicated with you as a candidate.
