The dscout team is seeking an experienced Controller to lead our growing company and more specifically, our Finance team. This role will report directly to the CFO. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Controller, preferably in a SaaS industry setting. The Controller will be in charge of accounting, financial operations, controls, reporting, tax research and optimization, and treasury. You will also produce thorough financial status reports for the senior management team and Board of Directors. Much of this work will be collaborative and involve close partnerships with many other departments across dscout. Lastly, while this role will be mostly remote, it will involve occasional office visits for training and leadership opportunities. what you will do at dscout

  • Oversee and manage the accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity, including the monthly close process
  • Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior managers by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines
  • Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, team and organizational budgets, and actual expenditures
  • Establish (in partnership with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basis
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows
  • Monitor bank, credit card, and other accounts
  • Help develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies
  • Build relationships with peers and financial leaders across the organization
  • Research, analyze, and keep up with tax laws and regulations
  • Research, prepare, and claim R&D tax credits

what you will bring to dscout

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • 10+ years of professional accounting experience, preferably in a SaaS industry setting
  • Experience utilizing NetSuite
  • Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant)
  • Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
  • Experience in streamlining accounting processes
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both oral and written
