Copywriter
Overview:
We are seeking a Copywriter with a brain for big, culture-driving ideas and the experience to bring them to life through exceptional craft. You’ll expand your skills and raise your creative game as you collaborate with a diverse team of award-winning writers, art directors, and designers, to concept and produce work across virtually every channel
What You’ll Do
- Create culture-driving, business-building, big brand work in every medium, from broadcast and web video, to targeted social and influencer campaigns, to attention-getting activation and experiential programs
- Your daily driver will be crafting hard-working, smart, and fun copy for social and digital needs
- Concept and produce content at the forefront of new media, technology and is socially driven: including e-Com, gaming, and everything else that’s new and next
- See your ideas through from concept to execution, working with: art directors, social strategists, account leads, and other internal and external partners
- Collaborate with our team to bring to life ideas in social, digital, TV, and retail as needed
- Proactively identify opportunities to tap into or incorporate the latest trends in pop culture, creativity, executional approaches & techniques, and broader inspirations, innovations and interruptions
- Champion and contribute to a culture of diversity, inclusion, personal growth, winning, and fun
Responsibilities:
- Support the Associate Creative Director with the development of concepts, strategies, and client presentations
- Present work to internal agency team partners, brand team, and any other stakeholders for approvals / to sell the work
- Become a brand expert and familiarize yourself with client's needs, target audiences, competitors, category trends, and current brand research
- Develop copy that adheres to best practices across media and platforms
- Ensure top-tier creative output that adheres to brand standards
- Meet brand objectives
- Participates in brainstorm sessions
- Proofread all creative work
- Delivers completed assignments on time
Compensation & Benefits:
- The expected compensation range for this position is between $61,000 - $102,200
- Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary
- Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 5% of annual salary paid out annually
- Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement

Qualifications:
What You’ll Bring to The Table:
- A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Copywriter at an agency, brand, publisher, or social media platform
- A killer portfolio of often funny, always entertaining, culture-driving work that demonstrates your ability to come up with simple, original ideas and innovative approaches across channels, especially in digital and social
- The breadth of skills to tell stories and to craft clear, persuasive copy in a variety of mediums, from long copy to short
- The flexibility to work as part of a team one day, independently the next. You adapt to new ideas, processes and business problems with ease and enthusiasm
- Proficiency with the appropriate Mac-based tools of your trade (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, et al)
- Determination, ingenuity, and a great attitude in the face of obstacles, deadlines, and ambiguity
- The optimism to think bigger, the curiosity to dig deeper, and the passion to do better
- A love for, and experience in, the CPG category
- In-house experience a plus
- This role will support the Associate Creative Director and partner with the Art Director to lead the creative development process for several Quaker brands. We’re looking for an idea person who has a way with words but is also organized and contentious at keeping track of copy decks and brand specific copy requirements
Work Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of professional writing experience
- Preferred prior agency experience with consumer-packaged goods
- Prior agency experience partnering with designers
- Prior experience writing & developing concepts, video scripts, digital ads, social media (paid & organic) and websites
- Proficient with Mac computers, Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite would be a plus
- Strong creative portfolio, available online
Skills/Capabilities
- Thoughtful, highly skilled writer that can speak about the aspects of design, marketing, and business
- Ability to look for new ideas and approaches to problem-solving and contribute to big ideas
- Understand the nuances of social media and strong grasp of the functionality of various platforms
- Ability to develop messages that not only reflects a powerful message, but also get the reader to react
- Excellent verbal communication skills in order to communicate ideas and present concepts
- Awesome grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills
- Excellent at managing multiple demands and responsibilities
- Ability to work independently and with a team to meet deadlines
- Positive attitude and a sense of humor
Education
- Minimum Qualification: B.A. in Journalism, or Advertising, or Creative Writing, or English, or pretty much any equivalent in education and experience
Location
- This position can reside in Chicago, IL, NYC, or Plano, TX
