Corporate Paralegal

As a Corporate Paralegal, you’ll play an integral role in Hagerty’s legal and compliance operations. Under the guidance of Senior Counsel, you'll provide employment, litigation, intellectual property and administrative support to members of the legal and compliance department.

What you’ll do

  • Manage the filing and maintenance of Hagerty’s and its subsidiaries’ intellectual property portfolio
  • Supports Senior Counsel in managing the company’s litigation which includes but is not limited to:
  • Act as the liaison between various business units, outside counsel, and the legal team in resolving litigation matters
  • Conduct legal research, reviewing pleadings, performing initial case assessments, analyzing and monitoring case status, implementing litigation holds
  • Assist in the fulfillment of discovery requests and preparation of witnesses
  • Process all subpoenas and document requests
  • Provide employment-related legal support including but not limited to immigration and personnel matters, regulatory updates and research, and execution of employment-related agreements
  • Oversee administration of employee hotline & incident management software
  • Assist with the drafting and execution of contracts and updating templates
  • Provide administrative support such as scheduling, document preparation, meeting facilitation, and travel coordination

This might describe you

  • Paralegal certificate
  • Prior experience working on the in-house legal team of a publicly traded company a plus
  • Strong experience in the legal field
  • Experience conducting online legal research (Westlaw or Lexis)
  • Must be proactive with a high degree of initiative and organizational skill
  • Able to work accurately and effectively in a highly confidential, detail- and results-oriented environment
  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with members of other departments in order to support their functions as well as to assist them in supporting the legal staff
  • Excellent judgment and business instincts
  • Ability to collaborate with employees at all levels across the enterprise
  • Self-managed, self-motivated, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team on assigned tasks
  • Highest levels of personal and professional integrity
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong experience in collaborating with executive teams, business management, and external law firms
  • Critical and strategic thinking skills

Other things to note

  • This position can be worked as a remote position within the United States.
  • Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
