We’re looking for a Principal Creative Director to join our team at Hypixel Studios, which collaborates remotely from around the world. Our members range from industry newcomers to experts with 25+ years of experience. Team members come from a diverse set of backgrounds, but share a common passion for building polished player-focused, community-powered games.

As the Creative Director, you will report to the Game Director while collaborating across the leadership team to define the creative strategy for Hytale. This is a pivotal role at the studio, overseeing 2D/3D Art, Animation, Audio, Narrative, UI/UX, and VFX from strategy, delivery, and team management perspectives. Thankfully, you will have the help of a talented creative team and support from the creative leads as you collaborate with leaders from Design, Engineering, Production, etc.

Some of your role:

  • Manage careers across the studio’s creative content disciplines; including 2D/3D Art, Animation, Audio, Narrative, UI/UX, and VFX. You will work with the Art Director and Creative Leads to develop effective growth opportunities and hiring strategies
  • Create a multi-year creative strategy that provides thematic cohesion for the game
  • Provide an inspirational north star that empowers creatives to navigate the unknown
  • Produce artefacts that inform, align, and empower disciplines working in creatives spaces
  • Help evaluate our art tools, processes, and pipelines to identify potential problems and build plans to solve them
  • Evangelize our company values and help us build an inclusive and wholesome workplace

Essential traits:

  • 10+ years of experience in the game industry, including 5+ years operating as a key creative decision-maker
  • Game experience that spans ideation to shipping to reacting to player engagement, preferably across multiple platforms
  • Professional experience building and communicating creative frameworks and creative strategy
  • Experience creating cohesive teams and motivate them towards a common goal
  • On a mission to empower creatives

Bonus traits:

  • Deep knowledge of pixel art, voxel art, and/or the block game genre
  • Experience designing for accessibility
  • Experience at a creative media company, or client-side with a focus on narrative marketing campaigns that build fan love and drive engagement
