About the Role
The Customer Care, Prior Authorization Specialist (part-time) is the initial point of contact for patient prior authorization requests. The Specialist will file all the appropriate documentation and liaise with pharmacies, insurance companies, and providers for prior authorization approval, all while keeping the patient in the loop regarding their care. The Prior Authorization Specialist is a master communicator and customer service member, assisting the team in answering other patient questions or concerns as they arise. Generally, you are passionate about women at midlife receiving exceptional care and are committed to being a key member of a team that exceeds patient expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as point of contact for patients to discuss prior authorization and insurance use. Resolve patient questions regarding insurance utilization.
- Obtain prior authorization approval from insurance companies. Appeal insurance companies after prior authorization refusals.
- Liaise with pharmacies regarding outstanding patient fills, resolving insurance questions as applicable.
- Strong attention to detail with a pulse on the status of all prior authorizations to ensure they are approved in a timely manner. Ability to setup and maintain systems for ongoing tracking.
- Assist members of the Customer Care team in responding to general patient inquiries through Zendesk.
- Ability to work remotely, 20 - 30 hours a week, during regular business hours (cst or mtn as preferred time zones)
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of related experience in customer service.
- 1+ years of experience in medical billing or insurance authorization
- Demonstrated experience with content management systems, Zendesk, or other customer support systems.
- Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment; comfortable with ambiguity and passionate about challenging the status quo in healthcare.
