Blue Tiger is looking for an experienced DevOps engineer to join our talented team of technologists.

For this role you will support the Office of Personnel Management in their mission to ensure hard working federal employees receive timely and accurate retirement benefits. You will support ongoing development and production environments and needs.

Requirements

What you’ll do:

  • Provide software development, continuous integration, software delivery, systems administration, software quality, and systems documentation support digital assets, including public-facing web sites and internal software tools
  • Meet with the Application Development Team and content contributors to develop and discuss strategies and plans for web products, to analyze web content needs, and to propose ways web products can address those needs
  • Assist with configuration, usage, and monitoring of cloud-based infrastructure services including but not limited to Azure, GitHub Actions, and MSSQL
  • Assist in building a strong technical foundation in build, release, and production using continuous integration tools and infrastructure provisioning tools
  • Engage with government personnel to understand requirements in order to develop better software and identify new ways in which the development team can easily solve issues
  • Collaborate with government personnel to build valuable tools that benefit the government’s day-to-day operations and broader missions
  • Represent Blue Tiger's culture of delivery excellence when interacting with government stakeholders and other contractors

What we’re looking for:

  • A minimum of three years of experience working as a DevOps engineer within a professional working environment, including: 
  1. Delivering software to a containerized cloud environment , with a focus on optimization, troubleshooting, and monitoring
  2. Utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to develop, deploy, and maintain environments and services with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) providers (e.g. AWS, Azure, etc.)
  3. Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, tooling, and processes to support development, deployment, and monitoring
  • Expertise setting up and using CI/CD tools
  • Ability to author developer-friendly documentation such as API documentation and deployment operations
  • Proven ability to apply good software engineering principles and practices
  • Ability to select and use the best tools for the job, particularly open-source solutions
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Experience working within a scrum/agile development methodology and environment
  • Someone who is highly resourceful, reliable, and detail-oriented 
  • Ability to think strategically around trade-offs and short term vs. long term benefits
  • Ability to build and form strong relationships with the internal team and external partners
  • An adaptive, empathetic, collaborative and positive mindset
  • Ability to quickly pick up new knowledge and absorb ecosystem dynamics and complexities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, technical and otherwise
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts in plain language, both verbally and via written documentation to non-technical individuals
  • Proven record of balancing concurrent tasks, meeting deadlines and delivering quality results

Benefits

While our final exact salary range is yet to be determined, the anticipated annual salary range for this position is: $120,000 - $180,000, which would be converted to an appropriate, equivalent hourly rate for contract employees. Our immediate need is short-term, but there is possibility this can convert into a long-term requirement, at which point we would be open to converting to full-time employment if you are open to such an arrangement.
