Job Description
DevOps Engineer (DE) bridges the gap between software development and IT operations implementing processes, tools, and methodologies to deliver working software into the cloud efficiently and with fewer errors. DE position reports to Director Engineering Operations.
DE’s objective is to develop infrastructure-as-code to automate cloud provisioning, cloud configuration and CI/CD process that is fast, effective and repeatable. DE’s work with everyone in the software development team to implement tooling for integrating code, running Q/A and performance tests, and creating push button releases. DE’s also play a critical role working with developers to create and maintain a robust and resilient technical infrastructure that cloud services can leverage to meet SLA/SLO requirements and, in the case disaster recovery contingency planning, RTO/RPO objectives.
Responsibilities
- Implement tool chains to automate software builds, integrations, tests and deployment.
- Administer access to cloud environments including restricting access of critical systems to authorized personnel.
- Establish architecture patterns and enforce those patterns to automate provisioning and configuration of development, staging, testing, sandbox, and production environments.
- Implement monitoring technologies to provide visibility into what’s running in cloud environments to support SLA/SLO requirements.
- Coordinate and orchestrate push button deployments of new releases into customer facing environments.
- Design, develop and document disaster recovery contingency plans, and conduct periodic tests of those plans to confirm RTO/RPO objectives are being met.
- Work with the development team to ensure databases and data stores are being backed up and perform periodic restore tests.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, with a focus on AWS, Azure, or GCP. Strong preference for candidates with first-hand experience in both AWS and Azure.
- Proven track record of deploying and supporting web apps and cloud-hosted API services.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Strong working knowledge of Jenkins and GitLab for CI/CD.
- Proficient in using project management tools like Jira.
- Experience with cloud monitoring tools such as CloudWatch and Prometheus.
- Familiarity with browser automation tools such as Selenium.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and functions throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
