The Motley Fool is seeking a Freelance Direct Response Copywriter to join our Backend Marketing team for 6+ months. If you thrive on crafting persuasive, long-form copy that drives serious results, then this is the opportunity for you.

What does this team do?
If you’ve signed up for any Motley Fool services, you’ve likely encountered the work of our Backend copywriting team—whether in emails, presentations, or reports. We’re a tight-knit group responsible for producing high-impact, long-form sales content designed to drive conversions for premium portfolio services that range from $500 to $5,000 annually. You’ll be joining a collaborative environment where ideas are shared and success is celebrated.
What would you do in this role?
We’re looking for a candidate who’s up for the challenge of crafting campaigns for some of our most high-profile products. You’ll be responsible for:
- Writing Comprehensive Video Sales Letters: Create in-depth, persuasive presentations—often an hour long—that present new and timely investing opportunities while highlighting the value of our products and services.
- Writing Long-Form Sales Pages: Develop compelling order pages, ranging from 5,000 to 8,000 words, that tell a powerful story and drive conversions.
- Developing High-Engagement Emails: Write dozens of captivating emails that generate clicks and guide members through multi-day or multi-week upsell campaigns.
- Innovating New Strategies: Bring fresh ideas to the table, helping the team explore untapped themes and strategies.
- Collaborating with the Team: Work closely with other Fools to brainstorm, execute, and fine-tune campaign concepts that resonate with our audience.
About you:
You’re not just a writer—you’re a direct response copywriting pro with the proven ability to generate sales through your words. You also:
- Have extensive experience writing about financial markets and stocks, and ideally, you’re familiar with The Motley Fool’s tools and philosophy.
- Can write clear, engaging, and persuasive copy that drives results.
- Deliver high-quality work consistently and on time.
- Have a history of meeting deadlines and working effectively in a remote environment.
- Are a strategic thinker who looks beyond words to contribute to the bigger picture.
- Are excited about joining a fast-paced company and taking on a role with real potential to impact our business in a big way.
