Director of Accounting

Role Overview:

As Director of Accounting, you will be a key player in our Accounting team, reporting directly to the Controller. This is a new position aimed at strengthening our internal capabilities in technical accounting, financial reporting, and accounting systems. You will take the lead in both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives, including the implementation of new tools and systems. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for someone with public accounting experience to transition to industry, leveraging their skills in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of technical accounting, including equity and debt accounting, and serve as the go-to internal resource for accounting systems.
  • Lead the implementation of a new equity tool and participate in the selection and implementation of other key accounting and finance tools.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions, freeing up the Controller to focus on strategic activities.
  • Serve as the resident expert on accounting systems such as Intacct, equity tools, and Floqast, modifying and maintaining these systems for the accounting team.
  • Assist in the review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and the generation of financial reporting packages.
  • Stay updated on new accounting pronouncements, drafting memos detailing their impact on the business and accounting treatments.
  • Manage schedules related to debt and equity financing, including associated journal entries and reconciliations.

Qualifications:

  • CPA license required (active or inactive).
  • Extensive experience in technical accounting guidance interpretation and financial reporting.
  • Experience with systems implementation is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and ability to work with various accounting tools.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate technical accounting research findings.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage projects of various sizes and scopes.
