 Our next Director of Cost Accounting will be responsible for building and unifying our supply chain finance structure through transaction data, customer data, and staffing models, whilst intersecting supply and demand. Working directly for the Senior Vice President, Finance & Accounting, and working closely with regional cost accountants, state controllers and cultivation leaders across the organization, the Director of Cost Accounting will support unified reporting, analytics through data and insightful analysis for decision making.

You will be challenged to work both strategically and tactically to act as the enterprise-wide owner for analysis and insights into the supply chain costs of the organization, playing a critical role in supporting TerrAscend’s growth.

One minute you will be partnering with cultivation leaders to understand product costs and developing forecasting trends.

The next minute supporting a technical aspect of our ERP implementation as it relates to Supply Chain & Finance.

And the next minute working on financial modeling to present to Executive and Senior business leaders

Regardless of the task, it’s critical you have strong situational awareness and EQ as you’ll work with many diverse teams and stakeholders across the organization.

Where you'll be planted:

This is a remote position that will require minimal business travel.

To be blunt, this person will:

  • Support SVP, Finance & Accounting in driving and executing the financial accounting and reporting needs of the organization, and support the achievement of budgeted financial goals and objectives
  • Responsible for monthly accounting and quarter-close, SOX compliance controls and processes, including review of journal entries, account analysis and reconciliations, processes and procedures documentation through thorough management review 
  • Partner with functional leaders to provide visibility and understanding around financial drivers, fluctuations to budget, and accounting implications to operational decision making as it aligns with forecasting. 
  • Support the preparation of the financial supply chain budget/plan & support product standard costs
  • Act as subject matter expert for Cost Accounting and actively participate in new technology implementation of systems in partnership with global Accounting and Finance teams including development of streamlined variance analysis reporting templates for efficient financial processes and insights 
  • Manage the completeness and accuracy of bill of materials, routings, and overhead rates working closely with supply chain and quality teams
  • Analyze and report on product costs, including variances, trends, and opportunities for improvement
  • Lead continued development of driver-based Scorecard/KPI reporting and tracking for business insights, and drive operational continuous improvement and enterprise-wide alignment
  • Analyze current and past trends of key performance indicators, including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, expenses, and capital expenditures 
  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives across our entire product life cycle from Cultivation to Manufacturing to Retail
  • Engage with business leaders and provide guidance based on calculated and well thought out recommendations, act as a trusted advisor to drive insights 
  • Support development and maintain costing of products & materials
  • Support accuracy of inventory reporting, partnership with regional cost accountants 
  • Provide analysis of PPV & logistics variances
  • Implement and work with Business Intelligence and Dashboarding tools
  • Provide ad hoc monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting as required
  • Other duties as assigned

What We’re High On... We value diverse skillsets, talents, and experiences. To be successful in this role, we know you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree and MBA, or equivalents, in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Supply Chain or related discipline
  • 5+ years of Cost Accounting experience, including multi-entity organizations
  • 5+ years of proven financial/data analysis experience in CPG industries
  • Experience in cannabis (cultivation, manufacturing & retail) industry highly preferred
  • Able to build and sustain strong relationships at multiple levels internally and with partners; high emotional intelligence and an ability to challenge in a nuanced way; influencing areas of the business that are not under direct control will be critical
  • Knowledge of end-to-end corporate external financial reporting activities 
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a manner conducive to our company’s core values
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office including, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint 
  • Analytic problem solving, solutions-oriented

$150,000 - $185,000 a year

The salary range included is for the base compensation and is not inclusive of any variable compensation that can be earned in addition to the base salary. Our range is based on experience, skillsets, and overall fit for the role.
