Foxglove is the data stack for robotics. Our open source software is already used by thousands of robotics engineers, product managers, and operators, and we're rapidly scaling to meet this customer demand. Our commercial product helps companies get robots to market faster, by organizing their data and streamlining collaboration.
We're a small yet highly effective team of builders and operators. Our team is very experienced, with backgrounds working at leading robotics and autonomous vehicle companies, cloud providers, and other successful startups. We’ve been rapidly expanding our engineering team this year, and are looking for our first Director of Engineering to join the team.
This role is critical to the success of our company. Reporting directly to our CTO, you will define and build the technical culture of our engineering organization, and lead our engineering team as we scale from 10 to 50+ engineers. You will be responsible for driving alignment among teams, maintaining our high bar for product and engineering excellence, and ensuring we continue to build a culture of high performance and continuous delivery. You will collaborate closely with respective company leaders in Product & Design, Sales, Marketing, People, Customer Success, and more.
Location
We're a small, remote-only company, with staff on 4 continents. We meet daily to connect socially, brainstorm, and share progress.
For this position, we're looking for someone in North America.
What we're looking for
- 5+ years experience in software engineering leadership roles
- Experience managing multiple teams, and managing managers
- Experience with modern frontend (TypeScript), backend (TypeScript/Go), and infrastructure (k8s/gcp/aws/azure) development
- Experiencing driving recruiting for your organization
- Enthusiasm to help define the culture of Foxglove as we scale
- Desire to wear many hats, and work in a fast-paced startup environment
Bonus points
- Diversity of experience across smaller (<100 employee) startups and larger organizations
- Prior robotics or autonomous vehicle development experience is highly desired

- For this role we offer $200k to $250k salary, regardless of location
