The Role
Mode Mobile, an innovative mobile app technology startup, is seeking a seasoned, strategic, and process-minded individual for our Director of Finance role. In this fully remote position, you’ll serve as an integral member of our leadership team. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will steer our financial strategy, management, and operational processes, ensuring they align with our overarching organizational goals. Your expertise will contribute significantly to shaping our financial future, managing risks, and ensuring sustainable growth. Who You Are and What You’ll Do
- Financial Management: Oversee the company's financial operations and strategies, ensuring optimal financial health and sustainability.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and ensure timely and accurate reporting; keeping leadership informed of our financial status and trends.
- Forecasting & Analysis: Produce accurate financial forecasts, helping stakeholders understand our financial vision. Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.
- Financial Systems: Optimize and integrate financial software tools and platforms to ensure smooth remote operations.
- Operational Efficiency: Streamline and automate financial processes and systems, leveraging the latest in fintech solutions
- Cost Analysis: Drive cost-saving initiatives, analyzing operations to identify areas of improvement.
- Budgeting: Participate in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans, budgets, and forecasts
- Cash Management: Oversee cash flow management strategies, ensuring the company has adequate liquidity for its operations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on financial regulations and ensure the company adheres to them, including tax planning and payroll with all local, state, and federal laws regarding finance, tax filings, and reporting.
- Payroll Management: Oversee the payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate compensation for all team members. Stay updated on payroll regulations and tax requirements, ensuring compliance.
- Stakeholder Management: Build relationships with department heads, banks, auditors, board of directors, investors, service providers, and other constituents.
- Risk Management: Evaluate and manage company risks, ensuring appropriate insurance coverages and risk mitigation strategies.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and scale a fully remote finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
- Team Development: Hire, train, and mentor a remote finance team, championing best practices in remote collaboration and communication, and ensuring alignment with our organizational objectives and values.
What You Bring to the Team
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field. MBA or CPA credentials are a strong advantage.
- Extensive experience in a senior financial managerial position, with start-up and technology industry experience preferable.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant finance and accounting experience, with a track record of progressively responsible roles.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong knowledge of accounting and corporate finance principles and procedures
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and leadership capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Familiarity with financial software and cloud-based tools. Knowledge of QuickBooks, Bill.com, Carta, Rippling, and Mixpanel is a plus.
- Ability to work flexibly across different time zones and with diverse teams.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining strong team collaboration
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize effectively
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of company information
