Executive Summary

CareMessage is looking for a senior-level Director of People with experience and skills to build and own the people and HR discipline at CareMessage. This is an opportunity to leverage your expertise to create and own processes that will set our organization up for success in charting the charting the course for the employee journey at CareMessage, owning the benefits and trainings that help us retain and grow our talent, and partnering with the executive team to build upon, refine, and execute our DEIB-first people practices.

Our Director of People will be coming into a foundation of people processes that have been intentionally built to prioritize a DEIB-first approach. Our executive team has been leading the creation and promotion of DEIB-centered people practices, and we are looking for a partner who ensures our team delivers on these principles publicly and internally. At CareMessage, we hope those who join our team are able to blend skills and mission to do the most meaningful work of their career. Working with one direct report to start, our Director of People will play a key role in helping the organization deliver on this.

Responsibilities

Reporting into the CEO, CareMessage is looking for a Director of People to help us accomplish the following goals:

I. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging:

- Ensure a focus on DEIB in every single aspect of the organization’s people strategy and processes.

- Harness our already strong focus and emphasis on DEIB when building out internal people-related policies while devising new ways to reinforce and improve upon this emphasis.

- Drive initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the organization. Establish metrics to measure progress and hold the company accountable for its commitments.

II. Employee Experience

Performance Management and Employee Growth: With a DEIB-first lens, enforce and maintain the best-in-class employee lifecycle, from L&D to performance reviews, onboarding and everything in between.

Talent Acquisition and Onboarding: With a DEIB-first lens, in partnership with People Managers, support talent acquisition efforts, including sourcing top talent, developing recruiting processes, and building a strong employer brand to attract diverse candidates.

Compensation and Benefits: With a DEIB-first lens, own the refinement and improvement of our global compensation frameworks. Serve as a key partner to the CEO, Exec Team and the Compensation Committee on our Board of Directors.

III. Leadership and Collaboration

- Identify and measure organizational KPIs and OKRs for our people from a DEIB-first perspective.Manage and grow our small but mighty People Team; evaluate and manage all third party People vendors and partners.

- With a DEIB-first lens, work closely with our Exec Team on key People strategy questions, including organizational design, succession planning etc.

- With a DEIB-first lens, work closely with our People Managers to coach them on our People policies and grow their People Management skill-sets in alignment with CareMessage’s values.

IV. Compliance and Legal

- Understand and apply HR/People compliance rules and guidelines, from federal laws like HIPAA to state-specific employment laws, and everything in between.

- Advise the executive team on relevant compliance and employment law and introduce best practices to protect the organization.

- In partnership with outside counsel, advise the company on all legal issues related to employment.

DEIB Success: You have experience leading organizational initiatives that promoted DEIB in a tangible, measurable and meaningful way.

Fully Remote: You have experience leading People and Culture initiatives in a fully remote company before.

Values Alignment: You believe that values are more than just words on a document, and genuinely care about building a culture where people do their best work.

Strategic: You are able to think how to align your and your team’s work to the organizational long-term strategy, and keep the long-term in mind while focusing on tactical objectives. You are comfortable presenting to senior audiences and supporting team members in alignment with people managers.

Analytical/Data-Driven: You care about leveraging data and insights to define the problems that are worth solving, and tracking progress towards solving those problems.

People Leadership: You have managed people before and have been a part of developing/informing People/HR policies in some form of leadership capacity.

Annual Compensation: $157,464 (this is the starting level compensation for this role, with room to grow over time based upon performance)
