Description 

The Director of People Operations will have a vital role in working towards transforming our workplace culture and emphasizing the growth and well-being of our employees. As Director, you will be a strategic partner to our business leaders, driving initiatives and programs that support our mission and values while fostering a culture of inclusivity and growth. With your expertise, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our organizational culture and ensuring that our people are empowered to achieve their full potential. 

Location: Remote in the DMV.

Responsibilities

  1. People:
  2. Oversee the recruitment and onboarding process, ensuring a positive and efficient experience for all new hires 
  3. Maintain and enhance performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback, and career development plans 
  4. Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution and disciplinary actions 
  5. Communicate and report on HR metrics and analytics to senior leadership related to the employee engagement cycle, including trends in recruitment, promotions, retention, and compliance with employment laws and regulations 
  6. Utilize HR analytics to generate insights and provide data-driven recommendations for enhancing organizational effectiveness  
  7. Culture:
  8. Develop and implement cultural initiatives that align with the company's mission and values 
  9. Foster a culture of inclusivity and growth, ensuring that diversity and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of the organization 
  10. Serve as a role model for the company's mission, values, and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment  
  11. Act as a strategic partner to business leaders to ensure alignment and consistency in people-related strategies and initiatives  
  12. General:
  13. Conduct regular reviews of HR processes and systems to identify areas for improvement and compliance with local and federal regulations 
  14. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in people operations, and apply this knowledge to drive continuous improvement within the organization 
  15. Develop and manage the HR budget, ensuring efficient use of resources 
  16. Identify training needs and individual performance and coaching needs  
  17. Oversee payroll functions and administration of StraighterLine’s benefit and 401(k) plans  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field 
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in people analytics, recruitment, or HR operations 
  • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP; PHR/SPHR certifications or a commensurate combination of education and experience 

Experience

  • Strong understanding of HR portfolio, including talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement/culture, including experience:
  • Developing, scaling, and improving HR processes and programs that are compliant with federal, state, and local laws and regulations  
  • Managing people platforms (i.e HRIS, performance management platform)
  • Managing HR metrics to drive outcomes including developing data dashboards in Excel for visualization purposes
  • Managing a suite of employee benefits: health/wellbeing, 401(k), and leave
  • Processing payroll through Paylocity or equivalent for supervisory and review purposes
  • Developing and implementing people and cultural strategies, especially in a hybrid-remote work environment

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and project management skills 
  • Ability to establish relationships across cross-functional teams 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask
