About the role:
The Director, Rewards will report directly to the Sr. Director, Total Rewards. They will provide strategic and advisory support to the key stakeholders including Senior Executives, HR Business Partners, and People Leaders across Kong. The candidate in this role will leverage their diverse experiences, in-depth knowledge of compensation programs, wellness with measurable ROI, prevalent market practices and data analytics to inform our rewards-related framework and subsequent decisions that create our Total Rewards programs, which are a key ingredient to Kong’s Employee Value Proposition. Must have an “agile and entrepreneurial” mindset and be excited about the prospect of building a program from the ground-up, and educating an entire organization about key program attributes.

What you’ll be doing:
- Design and implement Kong’s Global Compensation framework that aligns with the company’s strategic goals, our GRUCEO values and supports a high-performance culture.
- Develop a deep understanding of Kong’s business, the technology segment and the operating groups within the company and provide guidance on the appropriate compensation strategy that aligns with the business strategy.
- Develop relations and engage widely across the company to provide concise guidance and recommendations to Senior Executives, HR Business Partners, People Leaders and leaders across Kong.
- Lead our Annual Compensation Review process and various other compensation-related initiatives as needed.
- Ensure that our global compensation programs are designed to drive employee performance in line with business objectives, are market competitive, legally sound, and managed/administered accurately and effectively.
- Help drive pay parity and pay fairness across Kong, by driving an annual pay parity review process
- Have an eye towards continual improvements, including designing system automations to ensure that the compensation lifecycle is efficient, scalable, user- friendly and compliant.
- Communicate and educate different employee segments throughout Kong so that they understand our compensation philosophy, principles and programs.
- Provide strategic and thought leadership around employee wellness service priorities and programs ensuring alignment and support with business priorities.
What you’ll bring:
- Enthusiasm, authenticity and deep knowledge of Global Compensation and Wellness programs.
- Worked in/with various size companies, and especially early stage start-ups where your experience, knowledge and hands-on approach can be put to use by building the foundational framework for a scalable program.
- Ability to clearly translate complex compensation concepts and educate a wide cross-section of the company, so they can fully understand our compensation vision, strategy and approach and that it is viewed as a business enabler, not an administrative burden.
- You have strong bias for action, are skilled at change management, and have a proven track record for designing, driving, managing and scaling compensation programs through policies, processes, and systems
- Strong business acumen, data analysis skills and a deep understanding of equity/stock compensation
