Employment Counsel

Aledade is seeking a Employment Counsel to join its Legal Department. This role will report to the Associate General Counsel and is responsible for assessing and managing employment law risk, and offering practical, creative solutions to our business partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day to day advice on a broad range of employment issues, including HR practices, recruiting, diversity and inclusion, employee relations, performance management, leaves of absence and accommodations, wage and hour, pay equity, internal investigations, and compensation and benefits
  • Partner with the company’s People team to handle and support HR compliance, employee issues, internal investigations, audits, pre-dispute conflicts, employment law related attorney demand letters and agency complaints
  • Conduct audits, employment classification reviews, and support other compliance efforts
  • Help develop policies and conduct training and education programs for employees, managers, and the People team
  • Draft, review and update employment related agreements and templates
  • Provide advice to business partners and help develop strategy on company-wide initiatives and policies affecting employees
  • Monitor legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities relating to employment issues and provide proactive, strategic advice to the relevant stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • JD degree from an accredited law school
  • At least seven years of employment law experience, with prior in-house experience preferred
  • Practice law from a business perspective, applying legal expertise to a business environment
  • Have a demonstrated ability to collaborate, as well as to work independently, balancing competing priorities in a distributed environment with a high level of professionalism
  • Well organized, detail oriented and adept in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively, persuasively, and tactfully interact with employees, the People team, business partners and other members of the legal department
  • Excellent judgment and risk management skills with an ability to balance business needs, legal obligations, and reputational risks in a practical way
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
