Job Overview
As an Engineering Manager at Shogun, you will lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, driving the development and implementation of innovative solutions that enhances our platform for our merchants. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software, ensure adherence to best practices, and maintain a strong focus on user experience. Your role will involve managing project timelines, optimizing workflows, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.
This role will collaborate with our Product and Support teams. It will report to the Director of Engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional growth and success.
- Oversee the development and implementation of new features and enhancements for Shogun.
- Collaborate with our Director of Product, designers, and other stakeholders to define project requirements and deliver high-quality software.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in coding, testing, and deployment, maintaining high standards of software quality.
- Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and prioritization to meet the company vision.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Who You Are / Need to Have
- 2+ years of experience leading software engineering teams with a history of developing highly available, scalable, and robust services for SaaS products.
- 5+ years of experience with either Ruby on Rails or React as a software engineer.
- Experience with measuring performance of both people and products.
- Experience growing software development engineering teams through hiring and career development.
- You are passionate about user experience and creating the best in class tools for ecommerce store owners.
- Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software engineering.
- Excellent project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and development practices.
Nice to Have
- Experience with ecommerce platforms like Shopify, BigCommerce, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud
Salary Range
Canada: C$148,750 – C$175,000
US: $173,875 – $235,175
The final job level and compensation will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, years of relevant experience, skills, qualifications, certifications, geographic location, other business considerations.
